The best situation for Torquay if Bolton want him is Dan gets a two year contract in the transfer window at Christmas with a fee coming to us, I think Forever said it could be £40,000 with Dan getting better wages than he's getting now and then he is loaned back to us with Bolton paying his wages. Obviously with a sell on clause.
This could release money for another player for us.

I posted that because I thought EPPP rules may still apply, but it's been suggested to me that would not be the case, as he's no longer an academy player.

I have been told that Lavercombe's contract will have bearing on any fee, think he has a year ? and almost certainly paid less than a 17 year old gets sat on the checkouts down the local shop, couple that with the fact we're talking about an 18 year old keeper with less than 10 non-league games under his belt, likely to be signed as a development keeper, please don't feel the need to go off on the deep end, snarl and spit at the board, be prepared for any down payment for Lavercombe to be quite low, the club's only chance is to get good add on's and hope for the best.

Compare that to Grimes, his contract would have been some way better than Lavercombe's, Grimes had 58 football league games under his belt, a goalscoring midfielder, with England U20 caps, was being signed as a first team squad member at a premier league club.

Kind of explains why there will be huge difference in values.

Lavercombe has signed a professional deal though, so we can negotiate and will have to accept any transfer offer for him to leave. I don't see why wages would have an impact on this?

To be quite honest I can't answer that question, and would be guessing if I tried. Just going off a suggestion from someone who knows a lot more about how these things work that I do, that doesn't mean such a suggestion is correct.

Agreed our club can negotiate, but unfortunately in this case I'm not sure our club has a whole lot of bargaining chips in a negotiation, unlike Exeter with Grimes say. Goalkeepers historically don't command big fees, our club can slap any price on Lavercombe they like, doesn't mean the buying club are going to pay it, or will be forced to pay it, clubs will offer what they think is right as I think you've suggested about.

Then it comes down to how keen our club are to sell, that's where I see a problem, I'm convinced we're going have to prepare ourselves for a pretty low down payment, with our only hope of getting a good deal coming in add ons, then it comes down to hoping Lavercombe doesn't become the next Ives.

Bolton are officially in debt for 172 million according to their recent accounts so don't expect a big fee. Their interest might encourage others though. Bolton's local newspaper indicates the club is likely to be taken over this week which presumably would interfere with any transfer .

I think it's fantastic news and I'm well happy for the local lad! I hope we get some decent coin too. Echos a shame that for me that we dont have a youth system anymore though :(
I must say I like Nicos comments to the media and against what everyone else seems to think I reckon he's a good option for us and I really like the bloke too. And again he stayed local so good on lad. Hopefully he can whip this rabble into shape, only time will tell, and not much time left...

If Lavercombe does end up going, it would appear that we are looking at bringing in Steve Mildenhall from Rovers.

Just the sort of experience we could do with and so, with the greatest of respect to Dan, I'm hoping he does end up going!!!!

And to be fair Scott didn't say anything about Lavercombe going to one specific club, did he. ;-) Still, nice insight Arcadia as normal. :)
