I'm surprised at some of the people on this thread who can't see the reality of the position we were put in by the player and his agent. We got the best deal we could in the circumstances. Look out for a player from Nottingham coming in as a replacement.

Ahhh yup - so this was the case. I assumed he must have refused to play. Dave - is it essentially a case of Marsh and his agent knowing we couldn't afford financially to keep a player in the reserves who refuses to play and causes problems for the manager? Most clubs would just make him train with the kids and show him that he's under contract - but we aren't in a position to do that.
In which case - **** you Tyrone Marsh and fair play to the board for finding a fee.
Some really good posts today from many supporters, both sides of the arguement make sense and I can see everyones point of view.
I still feel its not too late for us as we still have to play teams around us in the league. I truly think the best chance we have is to change the manager rather than a high turnover in playing personel. However that ship sailed when we made the poor choice of manager in the first place and its been made patently obvious for a while now that whoever made the ludicrous decision to appoint him is going to stubbornly resist removing him and he can just carry on regardless.
All the players that have left may not be the managers fault however - some may have left because of him and they didnt want to play for him, likewise he didnt want them for whatever reason, they didnt fancy it here, they were homesick, they had personal problems etc. Whatever the reason, I couldnt care less, if they dont want to be here they can bugger off, if they dont want to be a part of TUFC then we dont want them.
There is not one player in the squad I would have or will lose any sleep over if they left, I am actually quite pleased with some that have gone, can you really say any of them are irreplaceable at this level. None of them have set the world alight that much have they. Has the likes of Heslop or Briscoe leaving weakened us, dont think so! The Marsh thing may be a blow but he hasnt been consistant, he hasnt played as much as he should have and all we need is a sulky player downing tools isnt it.
One thing aside, if Nicholson is booting players out who so called undermine him, are diffucult or he cant manage them, then that is a bit of a joke because yes that is part of a managers job, nobody said it was easy and it shouldnt be. Bit of a joke though if thats the case when you think back to a lot of sfuff that was written about his behaviour when Nicholson acted like a sulky kid and tried to undermine Alan Knill when Knill apparently didnt rate him so dropped him from left back and supposedly didnt want Nicholson or his overrated mate Lee (cant pass) Mansell around.
You are my torquay, my only torquay, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know, just, how much i love you, so don't take my torquay away.

Is that the same Lee Mansell who was a virtual ever present for a team promoted from this league last season? The one who is now captaining a side in the League 2 play-offs?chunkygull wrote: his overrated mate Lee (cant pass) Mansell around.
Yeah he must be dreadful.

Dont care what he is doing now, he probably has better players around him which makes a big difference, I thought he was bang average to bloody awful most of the time he was here and he was a crap captain at times as well.

It happens at every club, a player gets unhappy and moves on. It's football I'm afraid!!
Do you want someone who is on the pitch isn't happy and not too bothered! I know what I would rather have.
Do you not find it funny that all of signings Paul Cox made have now basically gone??!! I think that tells you a lot.
If at pre-season, you had the chance of Blissett, Harrad and Marsh, I guarantee you no one would have known who Marsh was and would prefer the other two.
Marsh was good for us and it's a shame he is leaving but good luck too him. He just wasn't happy at Torquay.

Valid point if it was ONE player but we have shipped more players than Fedex have shipped parcels.IanGull01 wrote:It happens at every club, a player gets unhappy and moves on. It's football I'm afraid!!

Unbelievable decision to let Marsh go before we have signed a replacement (Presumably Rees isn't the replacement because he is a midfield player). Also by loaning Rees we now have five loan players (the maximum you can play in one game), which is going to severely restrict what Nicholson can do in the transfer market after the window closes.
Following the departures of Fairhurst and Marsh today we are now left with Blisset and Harrad, who have scored precisely 1 goal between them this season, and the very inexperienced Wright.
David Phillips stated when he appointed Nicholson that one of the reasons he got the job was the contacts he has built up during 20 years in the game. Well the next 5 days are going to show how many contacts are failing manager has got.
If I was a member of the Board I'd be very concerned about what supporters have written on the forums following the departure of Marsh. Even some of the more optimistic fans are now stating that they have had enough. The loyal supporters of our club deserve so much better from the board and manager.

TUFC never fails to let its fanbase down.

I meant, who IS actually happy at the club these days? I'm not, most of the fans aren't, the players get to **** off on a whim. The whole situation is a joke.IanGull01 wrote:Marsh hence the transfer request
Bowman threw a strop and was allowed to leave, Marsh decided he wanted to go and there was no fight to keep him. Weak management from the top.
It's all very depressing and why so many fans are walking away from the club. Why wait around to watch it die?

Oh sorry. Lol.
I feel your pain too. It's a sad state of affairs but we'll still be there Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

Is this revenge for Ajala?
Marsh, as we have seen, is miles away from being the best striker in the division. He was good for us, but 7 goals all season is hardly likely to pique the interest of a promotion chasing side with an unlimited budget.
We know they're a shitty bunch given their previous antics with Toby, registering him as a kid or a cleaner or whatever to avoid paying us a fee. Do we see any reason why they wouldn't sign a bloke to get on our tits?
Matt.
