Lathrope ... is he, or isn't he? (Edit-he isn't suspended)
Lathrope ... is he, or isn't he? (Edit-he isn't suspended)
.... suspended for Saturday that is!
According to today's Herald Bucks "confirmed" after the Bury game that Damien would be out for the Macclesfield game ...

See here:

However, according to the Football League Suspended Players List his suspension relates to 1 "non first team football match" !!!!! ... which means he is available this Saturday!
See here:

They can't both be right!
Hopefully the club are now aware of this as based on the (excellent) match reports posted on here it appears that he had a decent game at Bury and indeed given the circumstances his substitute appearance appears to have been a real "game changer". I would have thought that he has every chance of keeping his starting place on Saturday. Hopefully, the club is now aware of this ... we don't want another administration cock up now do we!

I already posted that he would be available for a first team match, but it was based on the same suspension list to which you referred.
I guess there was some confusion relating to the status of the Devon Bowl as a first team competition.
Matt.

Obviously a 1st.team competition as the winners will qualify for International Tournements against Narnia, Hogworts, Rivendell etc.ferrarilover wrote:I already posted that he would be available for a first team match, but it was based on the same suspension list to which you referred.

I think he was trying to comically suggest that the Devon Bowl is some kind farcical cup competition. Unfortunately, the use of fictional places does not really work as they are indeed fictional and the last time I looked, the Devon Bowl is a real cup competition (and an excuse for the reserves and the youth team to play a derby).ferrarilover wrote:What?

Jeez you couldn't make it up, could you?
Apparently, Bucks has received a phone call from the Secretary this (Friday) morning to say that Lathrope is available today after all, surprise, surprise! Fortunately after a few frantic phone calls they were able to get hold of him as naturally he wasn't due to be on the bus !
Good news as I reckon he may well start tomorrow now.
I guess it's just as well that someone at the club reads this forum isn't it!!!!!

On the face of it this could (potentially) have been another costly administrative error as it could have deprived us of an important first team player, in a match he could have played in but not only that but it could (potentially) have resulted in us playing another ineligible player if we had picked Lathrope in our next Reserve game when he wasn't supposed to be involved!
With the departures of Colin Lee and Ann Sandford (although as far as I am aware it has never been officially confirmed that she was sacked - but we know she was) we have lost an awful lot of experience. I don't know who is even acting as Secretary these days and whether it is a temporary or permanent appointment but either way given our recent track record we must be skating on thin ice at the moment and the last thing we need is another appointment with the FA! Sort it out, United!

After the earlier confusion, I would have asked for written confirmation from the FA that he was available to play in L2 matches. That way, we're covered if they change their mind (or got it wrong on their website) :rules:CP Gull wrote:Jeez you couldn't make it up, could you?

Unofficially confirmed by Ann herself via Twidder.

My understanding of the Westinsure St.Luke's Cup (Devon Bowl) is that entry into it qualifies those teams with the facilities entry into the FA Cup. :rules:ferrarilover wrote:I already posted that he would be available for a first team match, but it was based on the same suspension list to which you referred.

In other words, if our Devon Football League sides failed to enter the aforementioned competition then there would be no entry to the oldest and greatest cup competition in the world.

Don't mention the Crawley game.

She's not, according to her tweet, she was placed on gardening leave for about a week after the incident, then officially dismissed.
