Not sure I would agree with that, as we're losing our main centre forward. We'll have to replace Blissett, and it's not like we were flushed with cash six months ago to throw money at him when we signed him up. His wages will surely just go straight to his replacement.ferrarilover wrote:The fee's irrelevant (although, as usual, Dazza is likely to be pretty much bang on). Matt.
£15k isn't a life changing amount of money, but if it's the manager's decision to accept it and not forced upon him then fair enough. Whilst four goals has been disappointing this season, he has got 7 assists as well and is a reliable hold up striker. Without his 8 goals in 16 starts last season we wouldn't have pulled off the great escape, and at his best that kind of strike rate is as good as you'll get in this division.
The annoying bit is why we didn't play him yesterday. If he's not had a medical and the deal won't be complete until later this week then there was no rush. It's not as if we're selling him for a bomb and you don't want to risk it. His hold up play when we were 5-3 up and desperate to clear our lines and relieve the constant pressure could have been the difference between one point and three, as per Boxing Day when we were under the same pressure. That also shows what he brings to the team, even when not scoring goals.
