The wheels have come off now Thank god for a half decent start otherwise we would be right in the brown stuff. OK Mr Buckle, whats the story behind this one then???
I'll settle for mid table mediocraty, or however you spell it.

Just when i was beginning to think i'd got him wrong, Bucks is now going out of his way to prove i (and others) were right all along. What on earth has he done? How has he turned a solid, effective and most importantly winning team into something of a shambles within a month? His insistence on over-complicating things has confused everyone - players and fans alike. Well not everyone in fact, because the opposition don't seem to have any problems with it at all. We've just played two pretty awful teams at home, within the space of 3 days, and we have nothing to show for it. In fairness to him, the ref and the weather didn't help us tonight either. The man in the middle giving as incompetent a performance as i can remember from a whistle blower for quite some time. It might surprise him to know i didn't pay £16 to listen to his whistle this evening. But none of that disguises the fact that we're just not threatening enough currently, and we suddenly look as if we'll concede every time the opposition get near our penalty box. I really hope i'm over-reacting after another frustrating evening, but we're getting the look of a team that's forgotten how to win again. And we know how long that can last.

Kee needs a start, benners worked is socks off and was knackered, Gritt looked better. I don't think taking off Danny was a good idea. Not a good night. Aldershot fans were asleep, awful officials, we did not deserve to lose!
But we could be Leeds!

I watched the game from over by the players tunnel today, was a bit strange.
To me the only positive from this was it was a better performance than saturday, mind you that was not hard
One striker ,come on PB please, please ditch this now,we are at home why,how many times did the ball go in to benners in a good postion, and he was isolated, a second striker may have made all the difference.

we have gone from (and i dont like using this scenario) man utd to fc united.
and we cant blame the ref or the weather. its the same for both sides.

It was a blood & thunder evening. Aldershot finished stronger and we probably shouldn't grumble too much about the result. Morgan absolutely beasted Branston in the last 20 minutes and quite how the sponsors (insolvency specialists I think- that's a worry!!!) made him Man of the Match is beyond me. I thought he was never going to get up after the goal went in. Shows his commitment and disappointment I suppose. Bugger!

The bloke fast asleep in the family stand, rudely woken by an away goal, summed the game up for me!
We need to turn things back round again, I know we're 6th but we wont be for long playing like that. Final minute substituting getting to be a silly habbit, we need fresh blood on sooner Bucks!
Back to basics !

didn't go tonight, chose to mix with the freshers at Exe Uni but followed the match on here (cheers to posters)
Very glad to see Manse take captaincy (however long it may last).
Having lost 6 points at home now I think we need a starting 11 and set formation Mr Buckle, none of this experimentation - You've got your award now win us some bloody points.

In all fairness to Buckle on last nights evidence we havn't got it and he does not have alot in reserve. To the person who said we ought to start Kee - are you joking. I actually think that Ben Joyce has been eating all summer long, had a name change and returned to spite us.
Deary deary me. I think our confidence has been well and truly SHOT to pieces now.
Very very depressing recent form. If/when we lose on Saturday we could go as low as 16th. Great.
So much for an 'easier' September.

Have to confess, I am a little confused having just read Buck's comments on the OS. From the comments made by the commentary team, we were far from impressive. Yet we were 'magnificent in every department'...? Is the reality somewhere inbetween?
Good job I didn't hold my breathjonnyfive wrote:Please Bucks, give us some realism and humility in your interview... I won't hold my breath!
And don't get me wrong, I am not being fickle and slating our manager - just hoping that he shows that he knows this run is not just a 'bad run of the ball.'
Can anyone who was at the match please confirm/deny that "we were at it all over the pitch"?
It's all very well looking for positives, but Mr Buckle often comes across as deluded! Surely acknowledging a problem is the first step towards resolving it.

Wow, this is a rare example of someone being completely and utterly wrong. Most people say something correct every time they speak, if only out of the sheer weight of odds in their favour, but this guy has managed to dodge those odds, maybe time to stop playing the lottery?brucie wrote:In all fairness to Buckle on last nights evidence we havn't got it and he does not have alot in reserve. We looked ok (and sometimes better than that) until we got to the edge of the Aldershot penalty area, then it all fell apart. What we are missing (or possibly, failing to utilise) is a chap who knows where the back of the net is.
With the exception fo the last 20 mins, really, the game was all Torquay, Shots did very little and looked paniced in defence on numerous occassions. Sadly, as has so often been the case over the last few years, we just have not got a bloke like Le Fondre or Jack Lester (or Marvin bloody Morgan) who can score a goal given 2 or 3 opportunities in a game.

There were extended periods where the only Shots player to touch the ball was their 'keeper. We did create some space and there were a lot of flashes (very brief flashes) of brilliance, but there were a number of things which stopped us from winning last night.jonnyfive wrote: Good job I didn't hold my breath

Elliot will keep spending more energy backing into his man than trying to get to the ball, this is v. annoying and costs him dear so often.
The referee was apalling and seemed to feel the need to check that his whistle was working every minute or so, the stats say; Shots fouls: 6. TUFC fouls: 19. The story of 19 fouls and only one booking should tell you everything you need to know about the sorts of 'fouls' the man in black was seeing.
We had 14 shots yesterday, and only 2 on target, now, Aldershot weren't much better, but the goal was Morgan's only clear cut chance and he took it.
We adapted well to the change is style when Danny went off and Gritts came on, but once again, our lack of genuine goalscorer let us down.
So, yes, we were quite good at most things last night, but the table reflects those who earn most points throughout the season, not the team which plays the best. Sadly, at the moment, and at least till January, we are stuck with a strikeforce which couldn't buy a goal with all the gold in Fort Knox.
