You say don't knock Nicholson , Owers did have his good points he put together better players than we've had in years but Garry Johnson has taken the same players to a different level. Owers had the problem the same as Nicho they could not put a side tactically together.

With a much larger budget as you well know. Owers was dour, uninspiring and bloody useless. Nicholson twice kept us up on very limited resources hence the defence of him. Owers had full backing from the club and took us down with a whimper playing boring football. Owers took us down and couldn't even get it right at our lowest level for decades. Shit manager.

Jerry wrote: 04 Jan 2019, 21:28 Whilst I'm sure we are all in agreement that our time under Owers was utterly abysmal, I feel his recruitment deserves some credit.

MacDonald, Niate, Wynter and Cameron (my player of the year so far) were all signed by him and form 80% of the best defence in the league. Hall has also turned out to be a great signing, and he brought in Andrews and Edwards from Brizzle.

Just a shame he was totally incapable of getting them to play well.

Think he might make a good scout for someone.
I've credited him for that plenty of times previously thanks, Mr Pedant 😉

Good luck today :scarf:
Midland - wish I could be there too - myself hoping to get to Plainmoor before the end of the season.
Apparently part time Woking have already made £350K from their FA Cup venture :slap: Crikey - that makes a difference.
Let's hope Watford exhaust them and they drop some points on Wednesday.
I see Mark Ellis featured for Tranmere v Spurs last night at centre back - ouch. Come on you Gulls !

My logic Teigngull is that Slough do not score many goals and we are due a clean sheet.

Dave, why aren't you taking others to task when they spell names wrong ?
ITS GARY, NOT GARRRRRRRRY Ffs.
Also Mr Owers WAS a useless manager for us but if we hadn't employed him at that time & dispatched of his services when we did GARY JOHNSON would not be with us in the managers chair.
I am a great believer in fate & it was always destined to be this way.
Dave it's pain before gain .....as it's always been !!
Also it might be a little too late but I'd like to wish you a happy & successful 2019, all the very best to you for

Hot on spelling but not too strong on grammar: presumably you watch Countdown and play Scrabble as a substitute for inadequate education ...

IMO English is a "live" and "evolving" language, unlike Latin. As long as the prose can be understood by the majority, does correct use of grammar really matter? Whereas spelling someone's name wrong consistently is an insult to them and their families.
