Shame......with Stanley unavailable for the last game and possible play offs, numbers are going to be stretched.

That's a shame as I really liked him and thought he would play a major part at the end of the season. With us drawing two blanks in the last two games and Murray playing well against Port Vale and coming very close against Wycombe, I thought he was due a start.

Best of luck to Ronan,could have done with the extra body for the run in,however what will be,will be,ladies and gent's.

The one thing that should not be lost on us all,is regardless of whether the club is promoted or not,there is going be another squad re-building job required in the summer,our squad is to thin and made up with to many loanee's.

Duh! Of course our squad is thin and bulked out with loanees. What do you expect on our crowds?
Perhaps if half the "extra" thousand or so fans that have appeared out of the woodwork for the last couple of games had attended through the cold winter months, our squad could have less reliance on loanees.
Times are hard all round though and if people have to pick and choose when to attend, then so be it. Im sure the club realise it and it just goes to highlight what an excellent job is being done with limited resources

Must be careful want i say here,otherwise i might get another Duh! ,as we all know :na: our club in the past made money from the youth set up,Sharpe.Monk,Williamson,Moore etc,etc,i expect the club to work harder with the current youth set up,which is lightyears behind the previous one,Halpin maybe the only player we see from it,for some time as our centre of exellence under 12's are the only squad who are competative in terms of results.

Also must send the scout to look in the right area's,the club as we all know does not have £50k to spend on players,however can not rely on the loan market it will catch up with us,look at Hereford a prime example,loanee's unless you have them season long can be recalled ,and are not with out cost,it also does not help with a settled squad.

Dagenham were promoted last season with half there team signed from the Essex county league,the link to Ross Hannah was the first sign the club is begining to look in the right areas,hopefully our scout has taken a look at fc Halifax who have just won the northern premier by some distance,there are so many undiscovered gems out there who we can afford,just got to look.

Totaly argee and i am no way suggesting our club is doing anything wrong,football clubs are a buinsness,Torquay like all other are being hit by the downturn effecting us all,high street shops are having extended sales,supermarkets are inculding more products in there offers and promotions,restaurants have more 2 meals for 1 offers,and football clubs must act the same way.

I have already suggested directly to the club they have a look at our friends from Northampton who offer a family ticket,and look if its possible to pay for a season ticlket over 10 month direct debit,but the main point must be the youth set up,greater emphasis must be put on creating home grown talent ,and the search for players widened to see if there is another Paul Benson out there,who we could afford and sign,them we will not need to worry about whether we can,or can not keep the likes of Ronan Murray.

The problem with paying for a season ticket over 10 months is that it completely removes the benefit from the club of selling season tickets in the first place. The funds generated from season tickets provide the club with some spending money at the start of the season. If everyone could pay for them over an extended period (and still at a discounted price), we'd all do it, and the club would lose money from those (like myself) that pay on the gate every week.

Sadly, with a football club, the offers are fairly limited because a club our size offers only one thing, and that is football at 1500 on a Saturday. Ok, we have a restaurant and a club shop, but with the money they charge anyway, I can't see them making any real money for the club.
Arsenal FC are a prime example of how to use money to make money by diversification. Their largest source of income over the last three years (taken from a mate who ought to know, but not checked myself, but it should be correct) has been the money generated by their financial services. Things like Arsenal FC credit cards, loans, mortgages and all sorts, it makes them pots of cash. The new(ish) ground makes as much money from the executive boxes alone as the whole of Highbury.

Hands up who thinks we will take more (say, £1 on prices) and get more through the door if we go up.

Couple of big reasons why seasons tickets should be paid up front rather than in instalments...

Firstly, if the season doesn't go as expected, the football is poor etc etc, people just cancel their direct debits. The club lose money and struggle with budgeting..

Secondly the club would likely have to employ somebody to adminstrate it - tickets would have to be sent monthly, what to do if someones DD is rejected, people moving house etc etc...

I think possibly the club could offer it with 2 instalments - with the 1st instalment being two thirds of the total and the 2nd instalment due half way into the season. That way people can budget slightly easier but then if they don't pay the second half the club hasn't lost out - maybe even gained slightly.

Keeps hands in pockets. The last couple of times shows us that playing in L1 does nothing to attract any significant increase in attendance. Perhaps a new stand might help a bit but there are too many people that are just not interested in "real" football, yet will probably spend just as much watching PL carp* down the pub
