Fancy dress for Chesterfield - OS
I see the club are asking people to turn out in fancy dress for this Friday's Chesterfield game. Works out nicely because i'm gonna be in fancy dress all day.

I'll go in my usual clothes, I reckon. Can't see this lifting off at all.
On another note, I saw on Facebook that there were some comments about a pitch invasion on Friday. I hope to god this doesn't get anywhere near happening - we got told off for it against Crawley two years ago, it's not even the end of the season, it'd just be pathetic.
If anybody runs onto the pitch come the end of the game they should all be banned.

It was Barlow releasing this facebook message (note how that word is spelt Joe!!).NickGull wrote:I'll go in my usual clothes, I reckon. Can't see this lifting off at all.

He even tried to word it so people believed it was official and from the club itself. That boy really could do the club damage. Somebody needs to get hold of him.
Here is his attempt below:
Hi Torquay Fans
Just a messege about the forthcoming game against Chesterfield (Friday 29th, K.O. 7:45pm:
There is a pitch invasion happening from Torquay fans at the final whistle, so they can celebrate with the Players and Management.
If you are going to join in, please be careful when doing so, try to avoid banging into people on the steps to avoid injury and also please be aware that there might be people who might not want to go on the pitch and also young and older people who are slower than you. So just a be careful messege.
This is our last home game of the season and could see us back in the play-off places. Hope to see everyone there.
Regards
Torquay United FC

The fact he misspelt words and that the English is abysmal makes it even worse.
I am sure the club are well pissed by this and would want all of us to stay in the stands - we will have nothing to celebrate come the end of the game anyway - no matter of the outcome.

No way?!? Christ. Absolutely pathetic. Seriously, as you say it could cause the club unwanted problems if this happens. If we were going up then yeah, staying up are acceptable - but invasions just for fun are ridiculous.

A pitch invasion, WHY?
What have we got to celebrate. Yes a win will put us back in the play-offs (for a night at least), but what if we draw, or even lose, should there be a pitch invasion then.
I didn't run on the pitch at the last home match last season as we had nothing to celebrate about. Granted we hit form at the right time, but we only finished 17th.
I'll be going my bit on Friday by singing my heart out and supporting the lads, but as for a pitch invasion, no thank you.

You miserable sod you Im joking, I won't be going in fancy dress either. There might be a handful that do if that, club would be better off encouraging a yellow day (or evening), something like that.NickGull wrote:I'll go in my usual clothes, I reckon. Can't see this lifting off at all.
As for pitch invasions, I'm pretty sure we had one against Burton when we reached the playoffs? And Histon when the tie was far from over. In some ways it would be nice to congratulate the players on a great season face to face and a win would stand us in good stead of making the playoffs but could also be very troublesome. As you say, there's no real reason to celebrate anything by running on the pitch, even if we do win it will still go down to the last game at Rotherham so for me, it's a no goer. Maybe we could all run on at the DVS instead if we secure something there.
Regarding Barlow, i've never met him personally but he seems pretty harmless. He just seems clueless to me, he probably thinks it's okay to create TUFC profiles on facebook without asking for the clubs permission....
He's certainly a loyal fan, that's undeniable.
I'd rather him send out emails promoting an atmosphere rather than a bloody pitch invasion...

I knew it was Joe as soon as I got the message on Facebook and he really does need to stop doing things like this.
Paul sent me a text this morning about it, my reply was that it was Joe so to ignore it but Paul thought it was genuine until I told him to check the spelling of "messege".
Joe is a nice enough lad but he does let himself down with this kind of thing.
Let's keep the personal insults away from here though, we're better than that.

Regards the Joe barlow message,i agree personal insults are not required nor are they helpfull however we may feel.
As many others on here and elsewhere Joe i know you personaly i have to say i have real issue here with this, you can not and must not ever pass off or try pass your thoughts and feelings as coming officaly from the club, and the fact that you have tried to pass of a message encouraging fans to comit an illegal act as coming from the club is beyond the pale, and you must understand that some will see that as unforgivable.
Joe i strongly suggest that you and your friends seriously stop and think about your actions, you can be arrested and will face a banning order shuold you invade the pitch regardless of whether there is 100 or 1000 other people on the pitch, the efforts that your group has put into improving the atmosphere at plainmoor have been fanstastic dont not spoil it now by getting yourself or any your friends banned from the ground.

I'm sure if the club get wind of it they will issue a public statement to counter Joe's Facebook message.
