Oastler Stopping with Us

Post by Mav »

In todays Herald express, it says that Oastler has agreed in principal a one year contract tos top with us next year although nothing has been signed yet. It also says that Buckle has hinted that he see's Oastler as a future defender.

Excellent news if it all goes through. Thought he looked useful in midfield myself but I'm sure I read somewhere that he scored for the reserves the other day playing centre back so he's obviously capable. Looked assured whenever I've seen him play, especially at Burton last Monday when he was unlucky to get taken off in my opinion.

Very much one for the future and, depending on movements over the summer (and, i guess, what league we're in), could be a regular starter.

Excellent news. He is a quality addition whos natural position is centre back (usually played there for QPR reserves) although he is also happy to play as a midfielder and as such can cover two positions if needed (a bit like Manse & Robbo). Cant beat a bit of flexibility :keepie:

Great news - rate him highly. Would give him longer than a year though.

How good would it be if we could add Stanley, Jake, Tomlin and Hannah. Reckon best we can hope for is two out the four though.

Good news, and can't say I'm surprised.

Oastler is a good player - I've been impressed every time I've seen him - but let's be honest at 20years old he's not premier league material (yet!). With QPR's impending promotion - points deductions notwithstanding - I always suspected a few of their reserves/academy graduates might be cast adrift. With Warnock having a bit of a love affair with Devon and the Gulls, I wondered if any of their players would find their way to us. I'm not sure whether we'd want Romone Rose back, but Josh Parker perhaps???

Either way, if we can secure Stanley for next season and Lathrope re-signs too, that's our centre midfield (and adequate cover) sorted nice and early.

Great news for us, very good squad player for us and would be interesting to see how he does in defence. Even FM 2010 had him down as a right back.

Lathrope's under contract till next summer, along with Mansell and O'Kane in central midfield. Add Stanley and Oastler and that's a great set of options for midfield.

I'm glad he's staying, he's impressed me every time I've seen him play. Like Steve Adams with legs :)

I reckon we're going to lose O'Kane in the summer, he has the ability to play football higher up the ladder and is a very saleable asset so I would expect Buckle to let him move onwards and upwards to bring in the funds necessary for next seasons campaign.

Great news in my opinion. I had the pleasure of reading the article in on the back page of my paper this morning.

Agree with you Dave that he has a simular style to Steve Adams but with legs!
