ferrarilover wrote:Hmmm, I see your point 12345 (please change this, worst username ever) but if they do this, they might just as well ask the League to demote them now. As good as RH is (and he is undoubtedly gifted, unproven or not), to find a squad of players like him and for them all to gel and perform at L2 level across 46 matches really would be a quart from a pint pot. Yes, they are deep in the sh*t, but to attempt the great escape with, basically, a full time team full of part time players would be suicide.

Boy, how I bet they are regretting promotion to the Premier League now.

Matt.
Probably regretting not managing to stay there even more though

He is being clever in not revealing who else he is talking to. He's purposely naming the two teams who can't afford to pay him big wages, therefore raising the bid from the other clubs. I really can't see him staying at Matlock or going to Bradford, he obviously isn't stupid and neither would really further his career.

Neither would be bad for his career if he stayed at Matlock and had another great season he would only be 25 and likely push interest in him higher and if he went to Bradford then its league football thats quite local for him and they clearly impressed him

Staying at Maltlock and re-doing what he's already done will do absolutely nothing for his career, in fact it would be negative in football terms simply because there is no progression, I don't mean that as a slur to Matlock at all, purely a footballing decision he shouldn't make.

Let's not get precious about it. Bradford might have underachieved over the last few years but they are a massive club (for this division). Going there would be something of a gamble, but if they get their act together it could pay huge dividends. It wouldn't require a significant uprooting, and he'd be playing for a League 2 club with a high profile.

It seems to me that the risk of signing Ross Hannah is not unlike the risk taken in signing Effion Williams from Barry Town. Effion scored a hat trick against Hartlepool,in what I believe it was in his first match for us. He went on to be a successfull lower league player With TQY & then Hartlepool.

If you are to believe Matlock Captain James Lukic then he was seen at Pride Park today.

Ah yes. Wasnt he the replacement for Scotty Partridge after he went to Brentford? Never seemed to score as many as he should for a striker. Dont think he managed double figures in a season for us? Think his strike rate was better at the monkey hangers though...

Signed for Bradford...

A shame (for us) as I reckon we must have come pretty close to snaring him on more than one occasion - pretty sure Bucks thought he had got his man too.

I can understand the appeal of a "big" (getting fed up with that word at the mo!) club like Bradford signing him and it's a lot closer to home for him. I will follow his career with interest as it will be interesting to see if he can make the step up.

Good luck Ross and to Matlock Town - who I'm sure will miss him!

Be interesting to see how he goes in the league. Great move for him, again our location would have had a big deal to do with this i'd imagine but there we go.

Ahh bummer. For purely selfish reasons let's hope he finds League Two a step too high for him, will be gutted if I see him top of the scoring charts half way through the season.

He picked a great game to watch his future club in, a devastating 1-5 loss at home to Crewe. You totally sure you want to go there Ross? :-D

On a serious not wish him the best of luck & he definitely deserves a shot at league football given his outstanding goal record. All the best for Matlock too, 12345.

Absolutely agree with the sentiments above, good luck to the lad and his former vessel in the murky waters of (semi) professional football. It's a real shame he didn't come to us, I was given all but cast iron assurances that he was our man, and I was really looking forward to watching him every week. Oh well, such is life and, in many ways, I rather hope his form is academic since we are a division above him.

Missed out on good a striker. Ross used to play for Stocksbridge Park Steels and has matured into a fine player.
Another player whose worth a shout is Jamie Vardy he played for Steels before moving to Halifax for 15k would probably want 100k minimum for him though but probably the best player in the NPL Evo-Stick league. Should send your Scouts up here more often some good talent around.
others. Jermaine Jackson Worksop and Jamie Rainford now with Chester.
