If Bucks does eventually up sticks and leaves, I vote we find where Lubos is at and try poach him back! Hahahahahahahahaha!!..........
Is he still asst coach for the US national team?

In the grand scheme of things we've excelled ourselves. The problem I feel is that the Board will have to reign in the spending to enable them to finance the Grandstand as well as continue to repay the Bristow family the money we still owe them. I've heard that half of transfer fees brought in will be used to repay that debt, fine by me but it does show how we might have to cut back on the quality of our first team squad. If you ask me, we're in for a period of consolidation if we don't make it to League One, by that I mean that I don't expect us to continue challenging for promotion for the foreseeable future if we stay down.

Buckle is aware of the need for a bigger budget to continue his job here and without an increase in what's been proposed he will definitely be off. I doubt he'll get it which is disappointing BUT it is very understandable given the number of fans we've averaged at Plainmoor. I want success as much as anyone but I can understand why the Board would prefer it if we stayed down. Are they really in a position to dig deeper into their collective pockets? I don't think so. I'm also of the opinion that Thea is there to protect the investment made by her husband rather than to continue as he did. I'm sure she will contribute to the Grandstand in the hope of leaving a prominent landmark to preserve the good name of her husband but I don't think she's there to further invest in the playing side.

Leroy! Although i can't imagine he'd be number 1 on the current boards list seeing as though they binned him after 10mins.

I wouldn't mind Jim Harvey. Did an excellent job firstly with Morecambe, then with FGR. Experienced manager plays good football, used to working on a budget and with Greavsie as assistant. That would do for me.

What about Branston player manager!!!! LOL. There are a lot of experienced men out of work at the moment and if they really wanted work then Torquay ain't a bad place for them to come to. Sure there is the usual problems of no money and geographical location but any manager worth his salt could overcome that to some extent ( ala Buckle ). If Peter Taylor comes in though we may all as well go home. The bloke is touted for this and touted for that but he is just shit!! I'd have Leroy back like a shot but i can't see it somehow. Anyway lets just wait and see what happens with Bucks first. If we go up then Bucks may still leave anyhow so we'll see what happens.

What Dave s/g has touched opon in this thread rather confirms my own feelings, when people have express there opinion that they would rather see the club push for promomtion next season,my own opinion all along has been there will not be a "next season"

And it confirms my feelings that if Buckle should go our club is more likey to look at a lower cost manager in terms of the whole package offered to a candidate,it is quite simple to me,the club could have ended this speculation weeks ago by putting a deal in place that matchs or is somewhere near what Buckle wants ,as it stands i do not think, alltough i dont know, however it would appear not to be the case.

Jim Harvey good call, one thing you know about him,is his style of football is pure passing, have some of that yes please.

Like most i dont want to lose buckle, i believe if we don't go up bucks will go and probably take a few along with him perhaps zebs, o'kane and a couple of the loanees. However i think if we go up he will stay how much better would his cv look if he can take us up then become the 1st torquay manager to keep us up in the 3rd tier. Anyway should he leave i like the idea of harvey and hargreaves combo, you can imagine bucks would want north with him at bristol rovers so that frees up an assistant managers job for hargreaves. Also believe getting branno on a 2 year deal in a player coach capacity would be a sensible move if finances allowed.

Jim Harvey is a nice chap too. Whilst in the pub watching one of our matches on Setanta a man came over asking all sorts of questions. My dad decided he knew too much about us to be an interested bystander and then recognised him as Jim Harvey. He went off for a meal then came back for a bit of a chat and banter. Decent bloke.

He's at Stalybridge isn't he? My uncle is a director on the board up there, do people want me to find out about his availability?! hahaha

You could be our mole. Go in under the pretence of visting dear Uncle Director and whisper in Harvey's ear. :~D
I promised myself I wouldn't get sucked into this discussion.

I am reasonably tolerant of Buckles ambition but he shouldn't be advertising it at this stage of the playoffs

Quote below from today's BBC website on discussion re BR role

"I'm not just working at Torquay for the rest of my life," added Buckle.

It does appear as though we may be looking for a new Manager in the summer judging by the comments from PB. I do wonder whether he might "change his mind" or perhaps more pertinently the TUFC Board might make him change his mind should we get promoted though.

If we were to lose him then, given the likely budget that we will have, I would look for someone who isn't going to cost the earth and has a good track record - so that rules out Peter Taylor then! Not too sure on JIm Harvey anymore, he seems to have drifted down the leagues a bit. Personally I would go for someone like Steve Burr at Kidderminster - he has done a really good job on the non league scene and almost got Kidderminster into the play offs this season on a shoestring budget and with a five point deduction for financial irregularities.

Should it happen (Bucks leaving) I just hope the board make a good choice - this time around they won't have the benefit of a proper football man making the choice though.

I'm sure the outgoing Manager would be only too happy to give them a helping hand knowing the Club as he does.

My bets, if Buckle was to leave, would be going on Shaun North.
