If Law was struggling to get into Yeovils team, who were bloody awful in their last 10games of the season, why in the blue hell would we want him?, Is this what it's come to, getting cast offs because they're local and cheap?, We need to set the bar higher, have a standard and keep that level... Whoever thinks Jack Sparked is coming to us to either not the full chilling or deluded, maybe both, he'll be playing in EFL next season, gauranteed..

Assumiong that somebody's performances for Yeovil - universally acknowledged to be a basket case of a club right now - are indicative of their overall ability is unfair. Law was very good when he was on loan with us; a bit ropey in his first sub appearance as I recall, but excellent after that. I'd be more inclined to believe that form line that whatever happened at Yeovil.

I seem to remember Law scoring a cracking goal for Argyle in an FA Cup Match a few months ago.

I thought he was good after a slow start for us during his loan spell at Plainmoor.

Left back is a specialist position and we would not have been relegated for sure if Ben Wynter had been at Right back last season so a specialist at Right back is a must.

GJ mucked about with systems and personel so much, and mainly played a back 3, trust me, we weren't relegated because Ben Wynter wasn't in our starting XI, it was due to being shocking for about 85% of the season, to many players used,ill discipline, ball watching defenders, having no real structure, long ball style of play....just to name a few reasons why we went down.

We don't currently have anybody who can be relied on to play that left wing back role. Dan Martin isn't officially contracted (negotiations ongoing) and much of what happens with him will be predicated on whether he can be trusted to play 90 minutes, what with the long covid and the long-term injury he had last season. Moxey doesn't have the pace to be a purely left-side defender anymore, which is why is playing on the left side of a back three for much of last season.

As things stand now, Law would be an upgrade because we don't have anything else. Even then, I thought was was very good in 21/22 in his short time with us so surely he'd be worth a look? His locality is appealing because we say time and again how hard it is to get players to come all the way down to Devon; it's presumably easier if he is already in the area. No idea if he'd be "cheap", though.

Said before I'm prepared to overlook his tenure with Yeovil since they've been a mess for a while. Most players will have a club or two where it just doesn't work. A different class, of course, but Mo Salah was a failure at Chelsea before moving to Roma. He seems to have done ok since, no?

The Mo Salah analagy is tad much, kind of get where you're coming from I think....Law struggled at Yeovil, and I'm guessing they aren't interested in keeping him on, I think we need to aim higher and not the bargain basement section of the market, that's genuinely not a dig at the lad, but Id like to see us aim a bit higher, rather than ex loanee from Argyle, is that the reason for wanting him?, A half decent loan spell from a couple of season's ago?, I get what you're saying, but if we are serious about winning NLS next season, I think we should be looking elsewhere.

The last two seasons, particularly season we suffered from having no players between very young an in-experienced, and senior pro's at their career end, probably a large part of last seasons relegation, being so top heavy with in-experienced players, we're about to start life in a league full of battle hardened, proverbial brick shithouses, so we are now going to advocate a 23 year old left back who's senior experience over the last 5 years has been limited to loan spells here there and everywhere, as a good signing, on the premise he's was pretty decent last time at the club, G.J hasn't polished a single turd since J Reid.

Not sure when some of our fans will every learn.

Last time in the NLS we, were the only full time club, not the case this time around, we had a supply line of good quality already fit for purpose U23 from Lee Johnson's Bristol City, not the case this time around, presumption is the mother of all fork up's, what's needed is much greater balance to the squad, and if that means taking players from our new level, or the league below so be it, it's called scouting, the quality is out there. There will need to be some players coming in around the mid to late 20's, and a few equally adept at for filling more that one position, with a few Tom Lapslie type players down the spine, with the emphasis on more quality and less quantity, no point signing up a load of cheap players as per this season, that GJ doesn't trust or cant use, use the loan market as and when needed for cover, rather than the season gone by, when the loan market was sued to ty and find a team, because we signed a load of shite from wish.

Agree. I don't think he'd drop to NLS though. He'll get offers from NL clubs.

For two thirds (generous) of the season we didn't have a spine of an attack.
For three quarters of the season we didn't have a spine in midfield.
It took a youngster from Southampton who came from Glebe FC (Feb 2021) to shore up the defence.
Good job we had a goalkeeper.
If we see the spine missing at the start of next season I would suggest we vent Fury, just like a boxing match.

Great news on Halstead, Laps , Dawson and Tomlinson especially getting them signed up this early.
I am sure both Halstead and Lapslie could and should be playing at a higher level and credit to Johnson for this business done

If we can get Dan Martin fit, then perhaps a good option there! Also, Ryan Law has been mentioned, I think he could be very good at NLS level, and then at NL level if we went up and he got a season under his belt. Nouble, obviously would be a quality addition if he would come, and the same can be said for Stobbs and Collins for me! Lovett as our number 2 keeper would do us just fine if he wants to stay on.

If we can sign more players permanently and then dip into the 5x loans as well, we could shape up nicely. Still work to do of course, but considering it is May, this is as good a start to the window as we could hope for I think.

Pacey wingers and fullbacks would make a big difference, as well as the option to rotate. Some of the more experienced players can't play 2x a week, week in, week out!
