Torquay United v Maidstone Sat 14 Oct KO 3pm
United host Maidstone for the second week running in the Final Round of F A Cup Qualifying with the Team desparate to avenge last weeks 1-0 defeat when the 10 men of Torquay missed 3 clear cut chances to pick up 3 points.
It will be interesting to see the Gate for this match after the dissappointing performance from the team last saturday who seem to find scoring first half goals very difficult.
With Marshall out due to another Red Card the options available to Gary Johnson are very limited.
Assuming Asa Hall is not yet ready for 90 minutes we only have Hanson, Craske, Lovett. Thomas, and De Silva and Martin, if fit, to call on, to add to the starting 11 from last Saturday.
I expect a really committed performance from the team and how Gary sets the team up is very important.
Maidstone are a bogey team for us when you look at the past record but I just have the feeling that we will come out all guns blazing and win 2-1. COYY

Don't watch GJs press call video out today
- he says he's happy with the squad
- only wants the 'right fans'

Lots made of this elsewhere. Sadly this press call sums up where we are as a club. Who authorised this to be put out is beyond me.UnitedinDevon wrote: 12 Oct 2023, 19:51 Don't watch GJs press call video out today

2-0
I watched the press call. It was fine what do you expect him to say if some supporters shout abuse?
I think if you are personally offended by such a harmless line you really need to get out more.

Unless there are new loanees we are going to lose this with an inadequate bench that is unable to turn the game. I assume Marshall serves his one game ban on this match. The Maidstone management know exactly what they will be facing.
I won't post a score prediction as it doesn't count for non-league games.

I'd love to say that we're going to win this... but... this'll be the 10th time we've played this lot and have only managed one measerly win against them the rest all being defeats. And, with the lack of incoming loanees to bolster a very thin squad (understatement!) I can't see anything other than a win for the great unwashed from Kent. FFS prove me wrong!
Travelling down for this one. Hopefully not too many broken down caravans on the A303 and rusty old cars bedecked with black and amber flags slowing down to a halt to look at a large pile of bricks.
Prediction (for what it's worth): Heart says 2-0, head says 0-1. Hopefully not a draw as this'll mean having to visit Legoland and having to go there once in a season is bad enough.

A draw is the last thing this squad needs. It's not so much paper thin as hair breaths thin.United62 wrote: 13 Oct 2023, 07:55
