Signed Torquay United home shirt up for grabs

Post by DeanS-11 »

A signed Torquay United home shirt is just one of many prizes up for grabs in a charity fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society.
There is a group of Gulls fans sponsoring Torquay’s game against Hemel Hempstead on Saturday in memory of two family members who were impacted by Alzheimer’s disease before passing away recently.
David Andrew Stacey lost his battle with young-onset Alzheimer’s in August at the age of 62 and his uncle, Torbay boxing legend David Leslie Stacey, lived with the disease in the last few years before his passing in October.
As part of the sponsorship package, the group receive a signed Torquay shirt - and they are making this available to the person who makes the highest single donation via this fundraising page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/forstace2024
Furthermore, everyone who makes a donation of at least £5 to the fundraising page will have their name put into a draw for a chance to win some other fantastic prizes.
This includes:
The opportunity to join a Back on the Ball podcast, featuring Torquay United legends Colin Lee and Dean Edwards along with broadcaster David Fitzgerald, and discuss a pre-agreed topic of choice with the team. If the winner is a local business, they can promote it on that particular episode of the podcast. Many thanks to the Back on the Ball team for putting this unique prize forward.
An hour-and-a-half driving lesson (worth £63) kindly donated by Learninabeetle in Torquay.
An MOT test valid for a year (worth up to £54.85) kindly donated by Chelston Electrical in Torquay.
Two Plymouth Argyle away shirts (one per successful draw entrant) - these retail at £52 each and have been kindly donated by the club. Both shirts are adult size medium.
£50 gift voucher kindly donated by Pro:Direct Sport.
A kettle and toaster kindly donated by Sparkworld in Heathfield, Newton Abbot.
Voucher for a back massage kindly donated by Charlotte @ E-Hair and Beauty in Torquay.
£25 voucher kindly donated by Hanbury’s Famous Fish and Chips of Babbacombe in Torquay.
£20 gift voucher kindly donated by Trago Mills in Newton Abbot.
A pair of tickets kindly donated by Kents Cavern in Torquay.
A voucher for a Christmas Yule Log kindly donated by the Crusty Loaf Bakery in Barton, Torquay.
There will also be some collection buckets and contactless devices at Plainmoor on the day of the game for general donations to the Alzheimer's Society.

I knew Dave very well. An absolute privilege to have known him and so sad. A proper tough hard man but proper gent with it.

PS Apologies for taking so long to approve the post, I've literally just finished a 14 hour shift delivering emergency water to care homes.
Dave

Hi Dean, It was always an honour to call your Dad my friend, also an honour to be joining you and other friends in sponsoring the game in Dave, and uncle Dave's memory.

If I may add this shows that Alzheimer's is not just a disease for the elderly and really hope that people support the collections today.

:yellow: Thanks Dave. It was good to share the day with you.

For anyone who donated at least £5 to the page, prize winners are now all listed within the updates section of the Just Giving page. You’ll probably have to click on Show More to see them all. Thanks again to everyone who donated including to the bucket collection at the game itself.
