United 6 (Kaptein 33′ 45+3′, Cross 41′, Wyatt 64′, 83′, Barker 90+4′)
Pucklechurch Sports 0 United’s women turned on the style on Sunday, as they ran out comprehensive winners at Plainmoor. It was actually the visitors who went closest to opening the scoring, as Amy Jeffries clipped the far post following a neat turn inside the box. United took note of the warning and duly found the breakthrough just past the half-hour. After a right-wing delivery from Natascha Bevan picked out Tee Kaptien by the penalty spot, United’s leading scorer sensibly took a moment to take the ball down, before calmly slotting the ball low to visiting goalkeeper Ellie Soper’s right.

To their credit, Pucklechurch responded well to the setback, until a moment of individual brilliance put daylight between the two teams. Picking up possession and looking up to see Soper slightly off her line was all the invitation Gulls skipper Tracey Cross needed, as she refiled home a superb 25 yarder into the top of the net to make it 2-0 juat before the break. There was more to come before the interval though. Jasmine Barker had already shown plenty of promise down the left wing, and in first-half injury time she made in count, as she darted into the penalty area to invite a rash challenge that saw the referee instantly signal for a penalty.

Kaptein produced the goods once more, sending Soper the wrong way to give Torquay a healthy advantage at the break. It was more of the same following the change of ends, and after going close on a number of occasions, Danni Wyatt made her half-time count with a close-range tap-in following a penetrative low ball into the six-yard box. Wyatt’s afternoon got even better some twenty minutes later, as high ball to the back-post saw Danni rise above Soper to head home and make it a fantastic five for the girls in yellow.

Barker’s eager running finally got its reward in injury time, as Jasmine darted onto a through-ball to slot home from fifteen yards. Next stop – Dorset, as United go in search of that title-securing victory at Sherborne.
