Isn't there something we can do to lift the gloom
In all this doom and gloom. And I aint gonna make excuses, This is not a good day in Gulls History. I really hope there is something we can do to look on a bright side and find something else to take our minds of it. I have to get this out of my system and go on, so am thinking about what the summer holds, The idea od Diamond girl Extreme ironing on her surfboard. well ironing on the surfboard would be pretty extreme in my books especialy if surfing at the time. Well Christine you did say you had a pile of ironing to do. ![LOL ](./images/smilies/lol.gif)

I don't feel gloomy at all. I've had a few weeks longer to get used to it than some so maybe that's why I'm full of optimism. New manager, new start, new heroes to worship, ok we might well struggle with a reduced playing budget, but if we fight our own corner, watch in awe as the new Grandstand rises up from the rubble opposite the Popside, get behind our team when needed, all will seem much more positive soon enough.

I'm optomistic too. Like Dave says new stand that will finish off the ground nicely. New manager that WANTS to be here (with a plan B). New players. If the board show some solidarity and announce the new person ASAP then I feel we have good times ahead. One thing that me and Buckle currently agree on is it was time for him to go! As it is with ANYONE who doesn't want to be at TUFC
Sure it will be tough over the next two years but we are still building. Still securing our long term future and financial stability at a time when other clubs are not sure where the next pennys comming from.
Can't wait to see gas head faces when we beat them.
BRING IT ON

I'm not gloomy today - I was whilst watching that crap on Saturday and hope that the 'beaten POF team syndrome' won't kick in next season. But having heard that he has finally gone has come as a bit of a relief to be honest. He's clearly wanted to go for some time, so new season, new era. I can't wait for the new season. Will get my pub rota sorted, can't wait to be back on the Pop. Especially if Saint is our new manager <small hopeful whoop escapes from lips smilie>
COYY!!!!!
COYY!!!!!
In a perverse sort of way I think failing to get promoted might work in our favour a bit next season. For the new Manager it gives him something (promotion) to go for rather than just trying to retain our position in a higher league which would almost certainly have been the limit of our ambition next season. If we had of gone up I'm fairly certain that Buckle would still have gone anyway and then left us with a mountain to climb to try and rebuild a squad/backroom staff good enough to compete in L1 with just a few weeks to do it. That scenario would almost certainly have ended in abject failure and would not really have given the new man a fair crack at it. At least, for the time being anyway, he has a half decent squad to build on - provided we don't lose too many of our better players in the summer - and with a few quality additions who knows we may even challenge again next season, although I do feel that challenge will prove to be a far harder proposition than the one just finished.
Onwards and upwards (I hope)

How on earth can we have a reduced budget, were we not working with virtually nothing this year anyway?

No doom and gloom from me either, this is a new start think things may have gone stale at the club if Buckle had stayed and think Buckle knew that aswell ,Buckle would have struggled to top this season.
I expected Buckle to go January he did not, however at the time was talking to a friend of mine who had spoken directly to Chris Hargreaves around that time when this speculation first came out back in january, who said that greavsie was intrested in the job and had already put his hat in the ring so to speak,of course i heard that second hand so we will see.

nothing can do it for me at the moment, feeling really glum, its worse for us northern exiles as we'll hardly get to see any matches next season, fleshpots like bradford, crewe and attercliffe await, great!!
on the plus side i'll look forward to bristol rovers and maybe a trip to visit wimbledon?? awaits fixture list nervously to see the gas away on a tuesday night??!!

not gloomy at all. this has been coming for such a long time, it feels like a big weight has been lifted in a way. doesnt matter what league we're in, doesnt matter who's in charge, i'll still be on the pop side next year.

I just wanted things made official asap so we could close ranks and start again. As others have said, this whole episode has left a sour taste in the mouth. When members such as Justin (jocktheknife) come out and condemn a manager he's always stood up for then you begin to realise how poorly the ex-manager conducted himself. Knowing he was talking to players about his next job and setting his sights on targets that should have been coming our way I was pretty peed off. All this happening against a backdrop of promotion aspirations is a totally disrespectful thing for him to have done. I heard it suggested over a week ago that removing him prior to the Old Trafford match was being considered, I wish that had been done now on reflection.
All that said, time to move on and pull in the right direction together. All thoughts of emulating Exeter and getting to the promised land of League One are now replaced with realisation that we could have been a total embarrassment in that division. Regroup, set the sensible bar of mid-table security and none of us will be disappointed. I think it's going to be tough but as long as we bring in someone prepared to fight then I won't be complaining.
