The forthcoming season! (and kevin phillips)
To be quite frank I'm bored of Buckle, I think its time we all moved on and started looking forward, however I accept thats made difficult by a couple of bigoted BRFC fans (sorry to the rest), we all knew he'd leave so lets move on. It could be the start of something exciting for the club, or a disaster, but thats football, a good season to come I hope, hopefully the new guy brings in some talent, installs something that resembles tactics (something Buck's could never do) and hopefully we'll be playing in front of a nice new stand with the Yellow Army in good voice once again! Also I'm sure I saw the Herald was throwing in Kevin Phillips from the Brum at 12-1!

An interesting set of odds. Not surprising to see moneybags Crawley at the head of the list - lets hope the money runs out & the charmless Steve Evans gets whats due to him.
Oxford at 12/1 is a surprise when you can get 16/1 about Port Vale or Rotherham. I think that Accrington will find it hard to be up there again as money is even tighter for them than it is with us &the crowds smaller - I seem to remember players not being paid on time towards tghe end of the season.
It seems automatic for the relagated sides to be among the favourates (except Argyle I notice) - time will tell how accurate that is - hopefully not very in one particular case!!!
14/1 about the Gulls seems fair enough as long as we get all managerial and player issues sorted out quickly.

Northampton and Plymouth fans will not be happy we're 14/1 and they're 16/1!

Macclesfield I am sure won't be going down, they seem destined to hover above the drop zone for all eternity. They are the Wigan Athletic of League 2, a team no one really cares about, has rubbish support and would be easily forgotten if they ever did get relegated.Smithys wrote:what the bookies think

that is a tad harsh lol, they are one of the nicest lot of fans i've ever met, when we had our FA cup game against stockport at there ground, there was about 100 or so macc fans in with us, and they are actually a nice bunch of people i still keep in contact with a few of them now, and they are always interested whats going on at plainmoorStoke_Gull wrote: Macclesfield I am sure won't be going down, they seem destined to hover above the drop zone for all eternity. The Macc Lads are a good lot. I too remember the FA cup game vs Stockport when a few of their lads came in with us in the away end. They get small crowds and the atmosphere is like being at a wake but i like going as it is nearby!!

I understand entirely the three replies we have had to the 'controversial' comment, and, while they may be accurate, it doesn't make the assertion that Macclesfield are a bit of a nothing team any less true.
If you asked fans in L2 which their favourite away trip was, I reckon a damn sight more would pick Torquay than would pick Macclesfield. While this is hardly a criteria to judge the notoriety of a club, I think it demonstrates the point which Stokie was making.
Matt.

Probably going to be due the goodwill surrounding them - people want them to win.lwilton wrote:Are wimbledon well off? I don't see why they hey such good odds. I havnt followed there progress so have no idea on there financials
Might partly be bc they're scared of newly promoted teams too.

I'm sure thats completeluy wrong...
Crawley to win the league? only if they pay the league to give them 80 points head start
Cheltenham to go down?... they did rather well lasut season.
I'll be happy for Torquay to reach the play offs as we get another trip to a huge stadium that is not needed...right?
Swindon i think will be champions and i do think Brizzle Rover will strugle to stay in the league.
Wimbledon i really do hope that they get promoted as they deserve it.
As for cup fixtures, i would love Torquay to get someone like Birmingham (A) or Newport (A) games i dont want in a cup Crawley or Brizzle
