Saving every penny...
So much so, that even the board don't have @torquayunited.com email addresses. What must you think, being a potential candidate for a job worth at least 50k a year and your new employers don't even have company emails. Pretty poor if you ask me!
Luke.

The website quotes a [email protected] e-mail address & the directors may or may not have individual addresses. Why is it that some people on this site just want to winge, moan and generally put the club down. Perhaps a few more positive and CONSTRUCTIVE postings might not go amiss.
As a newcomer to this site some of the posts seem very negative.

Yea it might look poor but if I was a candidate, I wouldnt give a sh1t what the bosses email address looked like on 50k a year. I would rather the club spend less, than spend money we don't have.

The trouble is mlw, you've joined at the wrong time in the history of TUFC really! Football fans are very fickle and the match threads from this season will show that. Many times we've played well on the Saturday and everything is great, then play poorly on the Tuesday and the world is going to end. Things will pick up and as long as the board choose a decent manager, people will become far more positive. My main frustration is with the back-office set up at the club, it can be very poor at times and it often seems like many decisions are made without any forethought.
Anyways, give it a month and everything will be good again!

I may be new to the site but I have been following United since the early 1960's so I am well aware of the ups and downs this club has had. I was lucky enough to go to Plainmoor regularly in the heyday of the Frank O'Farrell era and have endured the many low times, particularly of the post Bateson debacle. We have to face it that Torquay is always going to be small town club run on a tight budget - multi millionaire benefactors are never going to be heading in our direction. Generally speaking it is a well run club although nobody can dispute a lack of behind the scenes professionalism at times. It is usually well intentioned but the execution is often sadly lacking . I think perhaps as well as needing a new manager we should be on the look out for a well organised administrator. Come to think of it I might apply myself!!!!!

Don't panic Camb, I agree with you. I too saw the amateur hour E-Mail addresses and thought that it wouldn't look good. I don't, even for one second, think that it will affect applications, but it might be nice if the club made some vague attempt to behave professionally. What, exactly, is wrong with applications by post, it's not as though potential candidates are likely to be shy of stamp money?

Well it adds about 2 days to the process for a start, and we want a fast appointment. Applying for jobs by post is a thing of the past - I left uni last summer and spent a few months applying for jobs all over the place and only a tiny percentage, maybe 1 in 20 were apply by post.
I agree it doesn't look good, but it's hardly important.

For goodness sakes......moaning about email addresses now?
Get a grip man.......does it, in the grand scheme of things, really matter what your email address is?

Completely agree with Jocktheknife. The applicants will know about the performance of the last few years, will know about the budget as its hardly a secret and will also know about most of the players here. Surely that is in their interest rather than emailing to a non @torquayunited.com address. Their main priority is the players and what happens on the pitch.

For goodness sake. There has been so much negativitly, from "supporters" over the last couple of weeks. This is just another pointless thread. We, as supporters, should be getting behind our board, not constantly slagging them off when odd things go wrong. Posts, like the one started here, do nothing to help the club, OUR club. Sh*t happens. Other teams lose play off finals, other teams lose their manager. We have to move on and the only way to do that is to give the club, and the board, our full support.
Another rant over.

i've received an email from Simon Baker in the past, and it was an odd address. Maybe they do this intentionally so every tom dick and norbert don't easily find their details and bother them with emails 24-7 ?? i'm sure not too many directors/chairmen etc give out their contact details to all and sundry.
ps - well said diamondgirl - we've had our say, made our feelings known, so lets look forward to getting the new manager in place, move onto the new chapter and just get on with it. new season is only 2 months away, and i can't wait to get started again.

I see what you mean Gulli, but they've known PB has been off for over a month now, hardly acted with any great alacrity.
As for the 'it doesn't matter' posts (mother), I know it doesn't MATTER, but it really can't be hard for them to all have @torquayunited.com addresses for the sake of uniformity.
Matt.

I know it really isn't important in the grand scheme of things, and certainly shouldn't be high on the list of priorities. But it just sums us up as a club and the way things are run, not even the simple things are done properly.
That said, I will end my gripes now and try to stay positive. One thing I do have confidence in the board is in choosing the right candidate. I've already put a sneaky few quid Nicky Forster.
