Australians

Post by PhilGull »

I seem to remember some time ago there was an announcement about a link with an Australian academy and that we were going to be getting some young Aussie players coming over. Did anything ever come of it?

I was walking into town one day behind a group of lads with Torquay tracksuits on and they were all with Aussie accents. I presume it was them.

cracking idea. we've got no money, so set up an academy the other side of the bloody world. still, if they're no good at footy, they could fill the vacancies in the club bar.

Looking for footballers in Australia? It's like looking for skiiers in Barbados.

Why not? It gives a great opportunity to players who want the chance to play in England. We could get some quality players through this, I really like the idea.

Here's the original article: http://www.torquayunited.com/page/News/ ... 49,00.html

Seems a good idea to me, especially as the Premier League are talking about changing the rules about catchment areas for the big clubs academies.

Don't have a go at Australians, otherwise you'll have Aussie back on here quicker than you can say, "Mine's a pint of Carling, cobber." ;-)

I have a regular slurp with both protagonists and because I get on well with both, I let what's said wash over me with no back line communication either way. Foster(s) relations I does not. Harp on like they do I does not. From what I've heard, they've been at each other's throats since 1664 .

If Carlsberg did diplomacy, I wouldn't be it, probably ;-) .

We had a brief chat at a home game while I was talking to Dave R from the other site. He declined the invitation and we left it at that, time to move on I reckon.

I do hope it's mutual.
