According to a source, he spends at least 2 hours a day in front of the mirror.

The source being his wife and a hidden camera!

You really have to admire Buckle - constantly battling in the face of adversity but would never complain about it......

His continued bravery and modesty bring a tear to my eye, a true inspiration to us all.

The world would be a better place if there were more Paul Buckles in the world.

It would also be advisable that the women of Bristol stay out of his way. Wouldnt like to think what they might catch!

most managers study videos of upcoming opposition. he watches his own interviews to see if he used words like "ambitious" "over-achieved" and "punching above our weight" frequently enough. and of course to check the slant of his hair is parallel with the slant of his mouth as he spouts such drivel.

So true, monogamy is the route of all evil and the world would be better without it.

Geez from various ncomments on this board it sounds as if you'd rather Buckle fails than Torquay succeed ??

Just think where you would have been without him.

You are a league two club at best, he knew that and he moved on, cant you??

A better question would be - Where would Buckle be without Torquay?

We gave him his shot at management. He was, and probably would still be, an asisistant to someone without that. He really should remember that have a little more respect.

Why was he disrespectful?

- Agreeing a contract with you behind our backs
- Working for you (retaining list, targets and contacts etc) whilst our season was very much still alive
- Costing us possible promotion by disturbing preparations for the final
- Tapping up players whilst at Torquay (Bevan, Stanley, Branston, Zebs)
- Taking all the non-coaching staff he could possibly prise away
- Lying to all who asked him about the situation
- Jumping ship hours after the final defeat and not having the decency to wait until at least a few days after
- Not signing loan/out of contacts players on whilst he had the chance as he knew he was going and wanted them to follow
- Always belittling the size and budget of TUFC to boost his own achievements
- Destroying team morale by his 'morals'

The list goes on and on!

Your right - we should worship the man!

Flippin ell you'd better still a load of allegedlys in there son. Tapping up players?? lol

For starters if he did sign a contract with us while still your manager then why havent Torquay taken legal action or reported us to the FA??

You say the saga disrupted your play off final.......Torquay didnt have much trouble in the 2 game semi's and it was all still going on then.

Why should he wait until a few days after to join us?? Your season had finished, other managers were already signing players and he had to fit a holiday in, any more time we'd have started pre season.

Managers take their own staff and players/targets all the time

It's a shame that having done a reasonable job for our club, Buckle will not be looked on with any great gratitude/fondness by all but a small minority of our support. But then I m not sure that will bother him in the slightest. We were the first stepping stone on him fulfilling his destiny of managerial greatness. There isn t much sentiment involved in the way he works, which is why he felt justified in evidently discussing his own next career move before our season was even finished. When he should have been concentrating on getting us promoted, he was more concerned with his own personal progression, and we are left facing the consequences of that. The cloak and dagger nature of the whole situation, leaves a sour taste.

No Torquay fan begrudges players/managers moving on to bigger and better things. But it shouldn t be too much to ask that our own club is shown a degree of respect (like that shown by Branno in fact), rather than contempt. Anybody listening to one of Buckles interviews during his tenure at TUFC would think him some kind of missionary, that was sent to Plainmoor on charity work to save us. There is no concession from him that this club gave him his management break. And that he was supported throughout his tenure by a board giving him more funds to do the job than we could really afford. All his moaning about his shoe-string budget was designed to make his achievements look better – even though it weakened our clubs position when others came calling for our players.

But it s time to move on now. Mr Buckle would be delighted that we re still talking about him – his ego is massaged with every word. We have a new manager now and he deserves our attention now. Lets not let this Buckle shaped cloud cast a shadow over those currently at the club. I m hoping I ve now discussed him for the last time. Until our club meets his anyway.

Completely agree Fonda, good post. We have quite a lot to look forward to this season and there are still many players available for free.

It's fine for the odd joke but I'd quite like to see these large debates about Buckle ended here. He isn't our manager anymore and probably never will be again. He's soured the relationship between him and the fans and will probably do the same with BR in a couple years time. All the best to him but Martin Ling is our manager now and I'm fully behind him.

Hopefully the BR fans will bugger off now aswell, they're getting pretty boring now.

It is a banter board softlad.

I'd be more than happy for Buckle to use us as a stepping stone if he had as much success here. Players do it (will Hoskins for example) so why not managers.

Oh, we've just signed a LB called Lee Brown from QPR, hope is wasn't another one of your targets??
