Agree it becomes more worrying as it each day goes by as you are not aware of the boards intentions. I really hate this "lets wait until January to see what happens" attitude that seems to be the culture these days. Had we have signed a keeper this week I may have been not quite so concerned but as we haven't you do wonder whats going on.
It wouldn't be quite so worrying if the manager did not appear to talk complete shite everytime he opened his mouth.

Having known Andy Marriott perasonally when he was playing for Torquay I can tell you he was promised a 2 year contract (verbally) then when it came to signing the contract had a one year on it so he was not a happy bunny. He wanted to stay as had/has business interests in Devon but when thay did that he got the hump.Enzo wrote:Maybe the club want people to know things are happening behind the scenes, but verbal agreements mean nothing in football. Jo Kuffour, Andy Marriott and Bayo all verbally agreed to stay with us.

Blimey, I never thought I'd find anyone more tedious and boring than the Rovers fans we've had on here just lately.brucie wrote:It wouldn't be quite so worrying if the manager did not appear to talk complete shite everytime he opened his mouth.

Agreed. I dont see the point in Brucie ever coming on here, becasue every time he does he moans. i doubt he is ever happy. Clueless.ferrarilover wrote: Blimey, I never thought I'd find anyone more tedious and boring than the Rovers fans we've had on here just lately.

I find it amazing that in our 1-defeat-in-14 run to 7th in the league, and throughout the playoffs up until the final we didn't hear a peep out of brucie. Then all of a sudden the club hits a rocky patch and out it comes, and he's our most prolific poster. Nothing like a balanced view eh..........ferrarilover wrote: Blimey, I never thought I'd find anyone more tedious and boring than the Rovers fans we've had on here just lately.

Oastler deal confirmed as two years on the official site now.
Interesting that Neil Warnock sees his best position as right back, and it may well be that is where he is tabbed to play. Mentioned as offering cover in central midfield and in the centre of defence as well rather than being a midfielder.
Guess I'll have to make the change in my FM 2012 files as well!

It's obvious that he is a RB, that was the only position in which PB didn't play him last year. :~D

Good news - I am glad he is staying. Will be a solid player for us and a good long term addition.

agreed. don't think he was used enough (or properly) by Buckle, so another young player i look forward to seeing establish himself.
slightly concerned by Ling's quote "When I arrived here, the players the club had spoken about were Joe Oastler and Danny Stevens," and "I was not going to go against those decisions because they had been made by the Board and the previous staff here at the club".
hopefully he just means he wanted to give these players a chance to remain at the club.
clearly he has targets of his own to bring in now, so lets see who's in the door next.

I remember him being a natural right back on FM before his Torquay stint. Good to know Buckle listened to the QPR regime when signing him... as a central midfielder. Typical Buckle.AndyC wrote:Oastler deal confirmed as two years on the official site now.

Would be more than happy with Oastler as first choice right back come August.
Also, I hope we don't offer Stevens two years. One would suffice to keep him.

You do wonder why Oastler wasn't played at all at right back last year if that's his 'strongest position'. I like him, tidy player, puts a shift in and young so you'd hope he'll get better. Pleased to have him back.

The genius of Buckle. Playing a midfielder at right-back and simultaneously a right-back in midfield. All at the same time as having a striker on the wing, and a wide man up front.royalgull wrote:You do wonder why Oastler wasn't played at all at right back last year if that's his 'strongest position'.
