Owen Hargreaves
After being released by Man Utd having only played 39 games in 4 years Hargreaves is looking for a club! What better way to prove he is fit again than to play League 2 football for Torquay. Sign him up Martin!.How about a match by match basis. OK I know I am mad to think it but stranger things have happened. What a coup!!

Never going to happen, but you'd have to say it'd be ace if he did. Mind you, even if he decided to go to a lower league club, wouldn't he be happier staying close to where he lives? Rochdale, Bury, Macclesfield, or maybe Paul Scholes would convince him to join Oldham

It'll be Championship on pay as you play I suspect, either that or return to Germany?

Unfortunately for Hargreaves (and I think his story is a pretty sad one), I doubt United would have let him go unless they were pretty convinced he was crocked. Wouldn t have taken much to offer him a pay-as-you-play deal. Far more embarrassing to release him, and see him turn up at a competitor next season (and with his talent, if he was fit that s where he d be). If there was a chance he was capable of regular football a) United probably wouldn t have shown him the door and b) Somebody would have snapped him up by now. Player-coach in the MLS next…?

Fonda he has a series of videos on You Tube trying to prove he is fit again. I just feel he is so desparate to play again it might be worth a phone call. Long shot I know but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Toronto need *somebody*, because they are rubbish - they lost 5-0 in New York last night. Luke Rodgers scored a tremendous goal.usagullmichigan wrote:Apparently Toronto are sniffing around him
I don't quite know how they can afford him though, because he'd have to be a designated player and they already have 3. (they signed Torsten Frings and Danny Koevermans last week, to go with Julian da Guzman)

Yeah I know of his Youtube efforts. Seems a touch desperate maybe? I m sure he d have had clubs (much higher up the pyramid than us) interested in taking him if he was able. The fact it hasn t happened leads me to believe he s not as fit as required.
Would love to see it, because frankly Owen Hargreaves on one leg would stand head and shoulders above every other midfielder in League 2. But of 72 League clubs that would love him in their side, we probably rank dead last in terms of geography and remuneration.

I fell asleep watching the game. No idea how they would do it but I think he wants to spend some time in Canaduh A. This is what a buddy of mine tells me who is a die Torontonian :~Dhappytorq wrote: Toronto need *somebody*, because they are rubbish - they lost 5-0 in New York last night. wouldn't be surprised if Leicester signed him on about 60k a week on a 3 year deal the way they are going. Sven always liked him and they are signing anyone with a pulse at the minute.

Sven used to play him at right-back though. Much like using Paul Scholes on the left-wing, it was a criminal miss-use of talent.royalgull wrote:wouldn't be surprised if Leicester signed him on about 60k a week on a 3 year deal the way they are going. Was Sven manager when Hargreaves had a storming tournament at centre midfield? I can't even remember which tournament to be honest. Euro 2008 maybe? Buck Knows.
