Cheerio to Rushden...

Post by AndyC »

Appears they have been expelled from the Blue Square Premier, and face an uncontested winding up order on Monday when they will possibly cease to exist at all.

Such a shame - friendly club when I've been there, and obviously been screwed over by some unscrupulous types.

I know a few Rushden fans up this way and I was gutted for them to hear their plight. Been to 2 Rushden games and what a lovely bunch of supporters, very welcomed at Nene Park (which is a pretty decent stadium, by the way).

I'm sure they'll be back.

Sad story as i too have been to Rushden and its a good stadium with good facilities and has a lovely walk just off Nene Park through the woods but if clubs can't run themselves properly this is what happens.

I feel sorry for the fans, obviously it must hurt seeing your club ruined.

But lets face it, they only got to where they are because of money, and spent way above their means. This is what happens. Yes Nene Park might be a nice ground but again it was only built with money they didn't have, and is far to nice for Rushden and Diamonds.

This I hope, is what happens to Crawley aswell, it always ends in disaster, look at what happened to Gretna up in Scotland and what is happeneing to Rushden, The dream always turns into a nightmare.

So feel sorry for the fans, yes. Feel sorry for the club, No chance.

Feel so sorry for the fans! It's quite unbelievable to think they were in the league 7 years ago! Really sad time for R&D, I hope they try and get into the Southern Division on monday rather than getting shut down!

Hmmm, gotta be careful not feeling sorry for 'the club', after all, the club is made up of people, ordinary people who have families and children and mortgages to pay.

Nene Park is nice, but to suggest it's 'too nice' for a club by dint of their division is a little silly. Should we perhaps have gone round and broken some windows, or removed the toilet seats to makes it less 'nice'?

Completely unrelated, but is anyone else watching the Canadian GP, why start a race behind the safety car, it's a race, not a fecking procession, either start the race normally, or don't start it at all. Thts akin to playing a football match, but not allowing running or tackling because it might be dangerous.

I'm watching the race if it can so be called at the moment. Just glad Lewis Hamilton got what was coming to him in this race. :)

Why don't people like Hamilton? Guy is responsible for a lot of what has made F1 a decent watch this season.

After having a conversation with Dave whilst I was over there, I will concede that yesterdays GP was fan-bloody-tastic.

Good to see an adopted "Guern" is doing so well.

Hamilton is still a dick though........

I ended up watching it 3 times, one of the best races for years.

Not as weird as it sounds mate. I went out with a bird from Irthlingborough for a few years and most of the locals hated R&D because they took their Club away from them. Most of the Irthlingborough lads went off to support Kettering which is only a few miles up the road anyway. Good move for Kettering I'd say.
