If he needs to get fit and lose some weight send him on the "Occombe run"-do they still do that as part of the pre-season preparation?

Apologies if anybody has already made this reference, but I haven't got round to reading all 5 pages yet...

When do we get to say "Allo Allo" to Rene? :)

he's had his official intro on the OS, so a good chance he'll be included in the next friendly i'd imagine.

Been on Mars last 24 hours and just found out that Rene Howe has signed. Got to say i'm pleased with this signing and if he gets his head right and settles for a more sedate west country life then we could have the makings of a solid, quality unit chipping in with a lot of goals ( although he was hardly prolific at other clubs - maybe reasons for that ) and assists. Ling has done really well in the time afforded to him as Gulls boss and i was perhaps a little impetuous in questioning his appointment. That said the bread and butter of the league hasn't started yet and we could still get found out on a regular basis but i'm pretty confident of a decent season.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

I like the sound of him in the interview on the OS. I really think that he has some potential and that this is a real opportunity for him to settle down and kick on in his football career.

He was certainly highly rated when he first left Kettering and let's face it, Barry Fry is no mug and yet he thought highly enough of him to give him a FOUR YEAR DEAL on (presumably) pretty decent money - so he must have something about him!

He looks pretty "big" to me in the photo on the OS - more like a light heavyweight boxer if I'm honest ! - so he might meed to shed a few pounds to get back to his "fighting" weight but no doubt a gruelling pre-season will help him with that !

Looking forward to seeing him pull on the yellow shirt. :scarf:

Certainly my thoughts on this signing, also. To have scored as many as he has when moved from pillar to post on loan, I think we have a 15+ man on our books, who sounds like a grafter to boot. Buckle tried to get him here on loan, as Andy C says, and we were priced out by Fry. Now its happened and the lad has a lot more to prove, this is a very very good signing. :goal:

Given our relatively poor purchasing power I think this is just about the best signing we could reasonably have wished for. I am now beginning to believe that Ling has what it takes to build a good squad.

I think this signing was in order for a new TV gameshow where Lloyd (Macklin) Grossman presents a strikers version of 'Through the Kee-Howe'
