What is it with Crawley?

Post by friendlygas »

Can I ask you what it is with Crawley that has caused soo much rivalry between you? I appreciate they knocked you out of the cup but was it "Off the pitch" problems with the Management or the way they play.It has been mentioned a lot by our supporters as if it is now going to be a rivalry between us and them!! Any details on this please?

Its basically their hated management duo. Their assistant got one of our players sent off in a play off match many years ago, when he was a player.
However they do have the indiam sign over Buckle who cannot match them tactically (as you will find out when they beat you)

Cant see them beating us. Crawley and ourselves are favourites to win the league, but IMO we have signed far better players than they have, It just depends on how the new players gel in our new team.

They may have a bit of money, but they aint signing anybody spectacular.

It shows how far the mighty have fallen, if some of our fans are quoting Crawley f***ing town as our rivals :'(

I think they may struggle to adapt to actually playing in front of crowds over 300.

I cant stand Crawley myself, and will laugh my f***ing b****cks off when in 5 years time it has all crumbled and that shit mickey mouse club are plying their trade in some southern counties village league, and Evans is banged up.

Cheating, timewasting scumbags, no fan base, massive funds (from who knows where?), biggest spenders in L2. Manager fatty Evans has a criminal record as Boston manager for paying players "off the books" to get them promotion. Coach Raynor a record as a cheat, as a Preston player pretended to be punched by Darren Moore from Torquay in a play-off semi-final several years ago, which turned the game after Moore was sent off. I hate them with a passion and you will hate them too when you see the shenanigans that Fattie Evans and his sidekick Raynor get up to during a game, intimidating the officials, winding up opposition fans. They are utterly loathsome, and with luck their bubble willl burst soon when the generous providers of money decide that enough is enough.

It's nothing to do with the Club as such, it's Paul (Claire) Raynor and Steve (Fat Pat) Evans that we despise. Their antics before a game, during a game and after a game are seriously unsavoury.

When we played them in the FA Cup last season, they started training in the goalmouth after being told not to. When a groundsman went to ask them to move he was pushed by Raynor and a heated exchange took place, typical lack of respect from him which is par for the course. Both of them are vile individuals and I've no doubt you'll see first hand what they're like when they visit you this season.

Personally, I'd like a couple of minutes with Evans in a locked room just to teach him some manners, also to wipe that ridiculous eye-liner off his ugly mug ;-)

Well, where to start...

I can't comment about the real past stuff but there was a big problem with Rayner (their Ass Man) due to some dirty tactics in a play off final (don't know the full details of it).

What I do know is this, Steve Evans is a smug, abusive tw*t who's teams magically have money appear from out of nowhere. The last time he was in charge of a team (Boston United) they had been signing top players for their league on wages of about £200 a week. The rest of their wages went through expenses, making them tax free, allowing them to pay players a much higher wage and therefore commiting fraud. He and a few others were banged up for pathetically small amounts of time (considering fraud is second only to treason as a law in this country) and once again, he's out and fiddling his way through football like a little kid editing his team's budgets on Football Manager.

Now at Crawley, they have a mystery billionnaire Middle Eastern investor who does not want to reveal himself, the chairman seems to have no idea who he is and it's all going through Evans. This allows them to spend the budget of a Championship side on a BSP side.

Then their's the way his teams play football. Dive, feign injury, spit, elbow and barge your way to a win, who cares if you break someone's nose in the process (Benyon, 15 mins into the FA Cup match with a nice big elbow, missed by the ref).

The problem is not with the club or the town. It's the disgraceful antics of Evans and Raynor, their inability to run a football club without being complete frauds and the poor fans who will eventually lose their club when Evans is caught out or their mystery investor pulls out.
Luke.

tbh I don't see this runaway champions team that Crawley have supposedly got.

They don't look much improved on the side that won the BSP and they only won it with the same amount of points Aldershot did (who hardly set L2 alight when they came up). In the FA Cup they reminded me more of Morecambe or Macclesfield (who we also struggled against) than Bury or Chesterfield.

I guess there's still time for them to improve the squad - but time is getting on.

Whereas i think if they're allowed to get away with their usual tricks, they'll justify the 'favourites' tag. I expect them to win it.

I agree that you have signed better players, but unless they are up for the phyiscal fight (I would not play Carayol that v them) then they will bully teams and the ability of players becomes second to winning the fight.

I made this very point before the FA Cup match.

They have one player to watch, that's Tubbs. He got the vast majority of their goals last year and, should something happen to him, or it was a freak season or whatever, then they could well find themselves going back down.
The reason they are bookies favorite is simple, bookies, like almost everyone else in the country, really struggle when it comes to any football below the top 4 in the Premier League.
If it's not Man Utd, they don't really know much, if anything.

Matt.

Friendly/British Gas - keep a close eye on Shaun North. He and Raynor have often squared up after matches between ourselves and the Creeps. Raynor and Evans love winding up North and Buckle so you may well see a free-for-all after each match between you and them. They are a truly horrible pairing.
