England vs India

Post by Parry »

What a fantastic test series it's been so far. I have gained a huge amount of respect for the Indians for withdrawing their appeal yesterday. Dravid said ""We sat down and had a discussion, and we realised something wasn't right. He wasn't attempting a run. Sometimes this games throws up grey areas like that, and we just decided it didn't feel right." Boycott can bleat on all he wants about Bell being gormless (true to some degree) but it as clear he wasn't making a run. If Boycott was captain there's no way he would have withdrawn the appeal; but what he fails to realise is that the indians gained alot more than a wicket by withdrawing their appeal- that is, a great deal of respect. It makes you think about how cricket compares to the beautiful game. At the highest level in football it is far more common to see players doing their very best to con the referee rather than being honest.

good post Parry always nice to see players playing fair and not in it just to win it fair and square...

Couldn't agree more. How refreshing to see that kind of spirit of fair play from the Indians, I certainly couldn't imagine the Pakistanis showing such generosity and love for the game over personal gain.
