Lee Mansell - The Frank Lampard of League 2!

Post by Richinns »

Who would have thought it? (obviously not ****!).

3 goals in 4 games!

I know its very early in the season and this is just a semi joke thread but great to see he has this side to his game. Something I never thought I would be giving him credit for!

Well done to Ling for seeing he could add to his contribution to the team in this way.

What!!!? Lee Mansell is GOOD!
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Think your memory must be playing up :)

He played in CM pretty much all the relegation season (scoring 4) and also started there alongside Greavsie in the BSP till about halfway thru the season. If I remember rightly Robertson, Hinshelwood, Bedeau were tried at RB before Mansell. Oh and he was in CM for the majority of last season as well as the last 3 or so months of the 1st season back in the league.

I do love the banter Frank Lampard gets :~D Where did this myth start? and people start calling him fat Frank? He is the most ultra fit professional football player around.

Lee Mansell needs to score 20+ goals a season, 7 years on the trot to be compared to Super Frank :~D

We saw Akinfatwa last night, and boy is he a porker, his big old rump even scored for him =D and Rene Howe is a bit on the rotund side too.

Another good result for you guys last night, I have a feeling that the top 7 already could well be the top 7 come the end of the season.

Anyway sorry for rambling on a bit and changing the subject slightly.

I hear you have Crawley Saturday, I think that will be a game to see where you actually are as a team, as I hate to say it but they already look pretty decent, and Steve Evans looks like his games are starting to intimidate referees again.

I have allways believed Lee Mansell brought far more to our team in midfield, i once wrote a thread about it which i can not bring back, as it is now lost in cyber space due to the big crash of 2010 :)

Sadly for Manse Buckle never quite saw the benefit of signing a real right full back and leaving Manse to play in his stronger position, Lingy has given Mansell another chance and at the moment Lee apears to be loving it, long may it continue.

Good a job as Manse did at RB, his best position is midfield. Thank goodness Lingy can see that.

My memory is fine thanks!

I meant in the fact he is not played as a 'defensive' midfielder or a right back. The fact Ling has told him he is a box to box midfielder which is a new role for him to the ones I have seen him play at the club. Seems to be paying off don't it!

Wrong.

Gatwick Rangers are not interested in football, they are interested in playing as little football as possible. If they tried to play football, they would get roundly thrashed. They are only there to dive, cheat, waste time, intimidate officials. They are the most God awful footballing side, who, against us last year in the Cup, were incapable of stringing more than three passes together.
Our match against your rubbish (well, perhaps not... ;-) ) was a much better barometer of our abilities against a genuine footballing side.
For all Gatwick's bollocks about having signed a bunch of top class players, it is still a non-league runt (possibly typo) who gets the majority of their goals.

The day they go bust, I'll post you an invite to my street party.

Matt.

I have to agree with Matt, never liked Crawley as a footballing (in the loosest sense) team. However I think this will be a good test for the team and Ling. Buckle could never get it right against them, even the 1st time we played them and we went 3-0 up, they still got 2 back at us. We need to stick to our game plan and tactics and not do what Buckle did which was..... well.... erm.... sod all in fact.

BTW did you know 10 men couldn't carry Evans even with a fork lift truck ;-)

Strange how he could be found travelling between the two penalty boxes last season at will. Manys the time he would be pressuring their defence in possession just outside their area and then popping up with a challenge or block should they manage to get forward towards our area. If thats not the definition of a box to box midfielder, i dont know what is.

The fact remains he spent the majority of his time under Buckle at right-back. And not only because the manager failed to sign a proper right-back. Evidently last season we had a very capable one on loan, who ironically spent a lot of his time in midfield.

Try looking at the stats Fonda. Since we got back in the league, he has just edged games in midfield against games at right back. Wasnt Senda signed as a right back last season to see how he fitted in (and if he was up to matches)?
