HRG - I'm bigger than Billy, but then I'm not in a profession where I exercise every day. What I do know is that if I were doing his job, I'd certainly make sure I was smaller as, oh I don't know, my career potentially depends on it.

Lets be honest, there isn't really much excuse for not keeping in shape when your job is exercise!

Totally agree Camb which is why I said his fitness is an issue. It's a shame because he has the potential to do good things for us if he sorts himself out.

It would just be nice if we didn't have the predictable pie/pasty comments every time his name is mentioned. It's been done to death.

I like Billy, he's a fun guy, (insert mushroom pizza topping joke of choice) and, having spoken to him, he does know that he is too heavy. He has said that he really struggles through the summer months, because he only has to think about nosh and he puts on the weight.
He will get lighter throughout the season and, come the Jan transfer window, he will be down to his fighting weight.

And if that approach applies across the whole squad we'll be in for a storming finish to win the League Two title.

Not so sure about that Gully, If Danny or Eunan get any lighter, we'll need to buy them some lead shoes to stop them floating off.

Bulk Danny and Eunan up. Make Billy and Rene loose some weight. We will be the champions elect come may. I can dream right?

Surely the players are given training regimes to follow over the summer? If not, next year get him the 30 Day Shred DVD - my Mrs used that in the run up to our wedding and was very pleased with the results (weight loss and toning). I've since given it a go and am down a belt loop pretty quickly. If Billy had a bit of pace he'd be awesome and banging in the goals, and surely that would be worth the sacrifice.

I was referring to the intention to get the squad fully fit rather than simply lose weight, but occasionally I express myself badly! But you're right about Danny and Eunan. Mustn't let that happen at Torquay. It's Bristol that has the gas balloons.... ;-)

Billy is what Billy is. Even if he lost weight he won't have pace. What can happen is for him to sharpen up his "quickness" in ball control and ability to get a shot off on goal before the inevitable block/chargedown.

I've lost count of how many shots he's had blocked and wondered if they had got through how many would have been on target and resulted in goals.

Did you know that even slow fat b'stards can do something to speed up their reaction time. Not a lot of people know that.
