Could there be only 2 by this time next week? It seems the Pilgrims is very near the end, so sad really. I feel very sorry for the fans.

They were a force in the championship not so long ago, all seemed to go downhill when Holloway left, on the pitch at least.

They do have some morons following them but I guess everyone does, you feel for the fans but certainly not the club spending beyond their means.

The gold nugget of premiership footy does lure a lot of clubs into spending more than should on transfer fees and wages, Bristol City currently lose around 10 million a year and im sure most clubs (including us), run at a loss, but to a lower extent.

It seems to have got worse for them on the field as well, it appears that Zubar has left the club today, that leaves them now with pretty much a complete youth team defence.

May be this is nothing other than he wants to find a club that pays him. If my job had not paid me for 8th months I would be long gone.

Personaly reluctant to say to much on this situation at Argyle, as its one i do not fully understand, i have read many conflicting article's on there plight, and i knew a few Argyle supporters who do not seem to know where there club is going right now.

I have said all along i hope there club remains afloat, however my heart goes out to all those buisness, that could ill afford to lose the money they have over this.

One cheeky Argyle supporter said to me, when your down our place, go down pitchside and have a look at our playing surface its got to beon of the best around, my reply to him was, what the pitch you have never paid for, with a :) on my face.

Very similar to how I feel, F'rev. Obviously, from a football point of view, it is criminally irresponsible for any club to spend so heavily. They are now paying the ultimate price it seems, for chasing the 'dream' of Premier League football. Sadly, it is inevitable that we will see many more clubs and, eventually, football itself implode into a massive vacuum of money and greed.
There will come a point where only the two richest clubs on earth exist, probably Manchester United and Barcelona, they will play each other once, and whoever wins will immediately and at once raise ticket prices to a sum greater than the total amount of cash money in existence. Perhaps this is an exaggeration, but it will come, and possibly sooner than we think, that people will simply refuse to pay £x to watch football, when they can stay at home and watch it on TV.

Matt.

The thing is that PAFC do have a significantly high proportion of nasty fans. The way they patronise and look down on us and Exeter for generations is sadly turned on its head for them. It is sad when a football club shuts down but perhaps if Plymouth had always had a realistic notion of the sort of club they are, rather than imagining that they should be in the Premiership, then they may not be in this mess.

There was always going to be a club that went to the wall and if I am honest and there had to be one, then I have a lot less sympathy for them than I did when Rushden folded. There is a certain irony that in Devon, it is the supposed big boys, 'big club', 'big city' that may cease to exist.

Funny thing is, I have always had this feeling that Bateson may end up involved in Plymouth somehow. Nothing other than gut feeling but with Hancox and Bateson's grandson involved with the club, I would think that funnier things could happen.

As selfish as it sounds, i have no sympathy for them at all. Perhaps its because i have lived in Plymouth all my life and have met so many arrogant Argyle fans that i look at Argyle in the same way i do Exeter. I remember when Exeter nearly went out of business and i recall many Argyle fans laughing away at the situation.

Although i do know a few decent fans that like Torquay in a non-patronizing type of way. For those fans i would hope Argyle do not fold but as for them being in league two? much deserved i say. :na:

I'm the oposite Plymgull, after spending the last almost 30 years of my life living in tavistock or Plymouth, I know a lot of Argyle fans, and to be honest I think most have a fondness for Torquay and hate exeter (but don't we all). I would hate to see them go under for their (the fans) sake. To be honest I wouldn't wish it on any fan of any club. i worked witha Halifax fan and still keep in touch, he was a life long season ticket holder and to see him when they went to the wall, was very sad. I wish more clubs would think hard before splashing the cash on trying to be something they're not going to be.....for the sake of the fans like us!

To add to this, we as fans have a responsibility. Dont push the board to spend beyond the clubs means, in the end its not worth it.

As a TORQUAY fan I have come to expect and realise that we may get 1 good season in 4. Probably 2 bad ones and one mediocre, that is my expectation. I enjoy football, Im not desperate for Championship football etc, in fact Im not bothered about it. A season or 2 in League 1 would be great but if it doesnt happen I will not pressurise the board to spend money we havnt got to try and get there.

I would go to Plainmoor if we are in league 2, BSP or even BSPS, because I enjoy going.

i think this should heed as a warning to ALL football fans, dont push too hard, a little yes, but not so much to put your club in financcial peril, its not worth it!

Just out of curiosity, what would happen to the points gained by the teams that have played them so far? Surely they wouldn't be allowed to keep them as they'd have played a game more than everyone else. Presumably it wouldn't be possible to bring a team in from the conference to make up the numbers as that would have to then happen all the way through the non-league.

Personally though, I think something will be done to save them.

As always it's the innocents that suffer. There are people at Argyle, and all football clubs come to that, that are football people they love the game and it's them that I feel sorry for watching their club crash and burn into oblivion. Of course there are idiots, Pork Pie! remember him? Comming on here with his thumbs down avtar when we dropped into the conference. Strange he hasn't been around for a while.

But for every idiot like him there's a shinning star, and if theres anyone as far as PAFC are concerned it has be Peter Reid. Talk about keeping your head while all around are losing theirs. A true footballing man, I hope he eventually gets the recognition he deserves within footballing circles.

Porkus is a good friend of mine Dave and while he does like to take the rise out of people he genuinely likes Torquay United and has been working tirelessly to raise money for the unpaid staff at Argyle. Don't take too much notice of what someone posts as banter, he's a top bloke.
