I have been talking to a couple of Rovers fans on another site and on Friday they all had Torquay and Crawley down as easy wins. Just been speaking to them this morning and they are now saying the same thing about Buckle that we were saying last year. Yes he got us to the play offs, but it doesn't make him a good manager week in week out.

Far to early to be judging Buckle as we still have some leftovers from last season and also a fair few players are at the moment plaing inconsistentlt which doesnt help team selection for a "new" team.A couple of wins and all can change, its a marathon and not a sprint and Cheltenham of all teams have proved that Crawley are beatable.I dont think we will finish as low as we are at present but also dont really see us being in the top 3.

This is not having a go at you in anyway but at everyone who says "It's still too early to say, it's still the begining of the season".
I say this every season, the points you get at this end of the season are no more or less important as the points you get at the end of the season. If anything they are probably more important now, because the better you are doing the bigger the gate receipts are. If you start off with a few loses then you will lose interest in the fan base.
As a manager he knows what players he has and he has to do the best job he can with what he has. If the players are inconsistant or you have a new team, it is up to the manager to sort them out and get the points on the board. If he can't get the points it has to be done to him and his players, but overall it is the manager who has the last say.
In Buckle's case, most of the new players he has worked with before, so it's not like he is bringing strangers into the club.
Personally, as I have said previously, Buckle isn't a "bad" manager, but he will frustrate you with some of his tactical decisions.

To be honest though, from performances so far, I cant see us finishing in the top half........certainly not until one or maybe 2 centre backs are replaced. I think Buckle had really wanted Branston instead or Virgo, but he doesnt seem to be doing much better at Bradford...

I think 4 or 5 clubs wanted Brano in the end, after last season with us he was highlighted as being a key centre back in League 2, let alone a key player in Torquay. I think money was always one of the reasons for the move and the fact he may have wanted to head North again (a little bit further than the northern realms of Bristol).

Well Branston hasnt been getting good reviews for Bradford, apart from the Leeds game, so maybe he's now on the decline. That still left us lumbered with Adam Virgo who turns like the titanic.
No doubt on Saturday we will lump high balls right onto his head all day long and make him look like Rio Ferdinand

Branston was immense for us, even with his limitations he regularly pulled out MOTM performances and I'm sure that the time was right for him and us when he was here, not so sure he will silence the doubters at Bradford because they have a higher level of expectancy than us Gulls.
