Shame we did not find it before the Crawley game - someone could have flung it very hard in the direction of fatty Evans!

Trouble is, it would have bounced off and, possibly, done untold damage to our subs and/or managment team.Richinns wrote:Shame we did not find it before the Crawley game - someone could have flung it very hard in the direction of fatty Evans!

to be fair, at present, it is merely a horseshoe with potential to be elevated to 'lucky' status. i think its probably more interesting that it represents a little bit of the grounds history. always dangerous when people start bringing up superstition.
on a side note, just what is the progress with the grandstand? ive lost track.

Remember EXACTLY what the Grandstand look like last time you saw it, Bob... Well it looks exactly the same now.
There has, as yet, been no progress, and I most certainly do not have the first clue as to when work will begin.

Just a quick update. Work has started on digging trenches to lay new cables etc that will service the new Grandstand. After the Morecambe game we will be moving the press and media, PA system etc and the players will move in to the temporary changing rooms. Demolition will start around the same time so that by the Gillingham game there should be more obvious signs that things are moving ahead. Tim will post an update on the OS soon and will provide regular updates as the action really starts.
Regards,
Andrew

Matt, the girly guy with an orange car.
Work has already begun on it. There's been builders digging near each end of the Grandstand. For the next home game the lane between the Grandstand and Westlands will be closed...
...They could have done with announcing on the website what is happening with it at the moment. Everyone wants to know.

thanks for the update, good to know work is being done because to the average person standing on the pop side it obviously doesnt show through on a surface level. be nice to see more visual changes as time goes by.

Well it's definitely a horse shoe but whether it is lucky is highly debatable.
It was presented to Torquay United captain Jack Connor before our first ever Football League game on 27 August 1927 when a crowd of over 11,000 watched a 1-1 draw against Exeter City.
Not a bad start, but we finished the season bottom of the table.
Maybe that's why it has been hidden for so long!
