RIP Gilbert

He's been replaced by a new one. Said new one doesn't even have a tail.

Gilbert the gull was never as good as the days when a lad called Bruce wore the costume, would have loved to have run on the pitch those two things.

The new one is great! The old one was, for years, moth-eaten and lacking in energy (he was rarely seen after kick-off) and it was only towards the end of his time that he started wearing tights. The new one looks meaner and nastier, wears shorts and tights and has a pair of feet the like I've never seen. Mind you 'One Can Lasher' will take some beating as a Gilbert, but I wish the new one every success. Now here's what he must do: squawk, flap, jump in the air, turn somersaults, explode, run on to the pitch to congratulate the scorer when we score, annoy the visiting fans as much as possible and finally disappear in a cloud of sparks and flame when we win.

As long as at half time Gilbert doesn't do something stupid like the Swindon mascot and dance to "Rockin' Robbin" in the middle of the pitch.
