Oxford time change

Apparently our New Years eve game against Oxford United has now changed from a 3pm KO to 1pm?

Does anyone know why the kick off is now at 1pm?

The date answers it, new years eve? gives people more time to get ready afterwards and oxford fans can get bac in good time too.

Well surely that's only a matter of opinion, not everyone celebrates and goes out for New Year. If I celebrated New Year, I would much prefer to watch the football at 3pm, get ready afterwards and then go out. Rather than watch the football at 1pm get home and wait a few hours before I go out. Football on a Saturday should be at 3pm no matter what kind of day it is, plus if the Oxford fans are that bothered about New Year I'm sure they'd not bother going to the football? I just wonder how many other teams will change the kick off for New Year? I'm guessing not many............

Would say that most people do celebrate New Years, and that the time has been moved forward to try and make sure that as many people as possible go to the game.

Would of thought there will be a reasonable amount of games played at the earlier kick off time.

Alot of Oxford fans will stay down for the weekend and celebrate it down here anyway.

Oh Danny, you tell Daz that his post is just opinion, then go on to make a massive post which is precisely the same thing, YOUR (probably pretty uniquely held) opinion.

You seem to be suggesting that because you, and you specifically, do not wish to celebrate the New Year, that football should remain at 1500 KO, do you see why that might cause consternation with a psychiatrist?

Seriously though, good call from the clubs who have moved, more for the away fans than ours. 'Going out' has changed since my day. We used to arrive home before the time a lot of the youngsters leave the house these days, and it only used to take me 20 minutes to get ready, as opposed to the 14 weeks it takes the kids these days. Anyway, I feel a stroke coming on, so I'm going to leave it there.

Most of the time they come down here they bring a few trouble makers and as this is one of busiest nights of the year for the police it makes sense to get any football policing out of the way earlier. That way officers can be deployed into the town centre for the early evening.

I don't really celebrate New Year either, and definitely won't be going out. But I still think it's a great idea to make the game start earlier so that away fans and any exiles in attendance can get back to celebrate. Also, Devon Yellow makes a good point about policing issues.
