According to this report ...

http://www.gazette-news.co.uk/sport/hea ... h_Torquay/

Seems to have a decent pedigree, albeit he hasn't had much experience of actually playing League football it seems.

I have to say how refreshing it is with Martin Ling that all his targets/signings come from quite literally all over the place. There was a time when we only ever seemed to sign players from Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol City, Southampton etc ... but with Lingy you never know where he's going to head next!!!

Not played a lot of football, then again they are only looking for a bit of cover so was only ever going to be a young lad.

Indicates Saah may well be out of action for a while. Good to see us being pro-active to find cover for this though.

Saw this lad play against us for Stockport at Edgeley Park about a year ago, which I believe was his league debut.

At first he looked pretty shaky, but he settled down o.k and by the end of the game was awarded MOTM. His shakiness probably wasn't helped BT playing alongside Mansour Assoumani who was probably the worst centre half I ever saw.

From what I remember he wasn't the tallest for a centre back, but seemed quite mobile. Be interesting to see how he fares if we bring him in.

The article suggests that we are looking to take him (Aldred) until the end of January - which should more than cover the expected time loss of Saah (estd 4-6 weeks). It's a shame for Saah to pick up this injury when he finally seems to have been winning a few fans over. His partnership with Ellis seems to be working well and it's a real shame that they are going to be split up at this stage.

As for Aldred, it will be interesting to see how much of a chance he will be given here as you would imagine that for the time being at least he will be behind Robbo and Ellis in the pecking order. I doubt very much whether he will get a starting berth on Friday (should he sign) not least because he played 90 minutes for Colchester's reserves in a 3-1 win at Oxford United last night, in which he also notched one of the goals.

Good spot CP. Don't think thats a bad signing - would expect it to be Robbo/Ellis for a while though, unless injuries occur.

No, he's not played yet, but I think we only signed him as cover at CB with Saah out injured and Palmer out on loan. Any injury to Robbo or Ellis and we'd have been forced to put Oastler or LRT in at CB so a wise move from Ling on deadline day to get some cover in.
