Spot on with the Cloughs and Lampards and along with Stoke, Arsenal is another clue to the first father and son.

The first pairing was George E. Eastham, and his more famous son George R Eastham. George senior won one cap in 1935, while George junior, a star at Arsenal and Stoke City, won 19 caps between 1963 and 1966.

It's been pointed out to me that Ian Wright and Shaun Wright- Phillips are another father and son to have played for England. Technically this is correct, biologically it isn't as Shaun is the stepson of Ian Wright. Bradley Wright-Phillips IS the biological son of Ian Wright but as yet has not been capped for England at full international level.
As long as the sons Eastham, Clough and Lampard are not offspring of the milkman/postman/backdoor tradesman then they are the only true sons of fathers who have played for England.
