No disgrace in that scoreline. Wasn't expecting to win, so not a shock, but a shame we couldn't have hung on. Peaks and troughs, eh... :-|

at the end of the day, 2 defensive mistakes and a miss up front has lost us this one!

I cannot begin to describe to those not in attendance today just how unlucky we are to have lost this match. Totally gutted.

I for one am gutted as sounds like we coulda possibly held on had we have gone 2 up but hey ho, move on to the next league game now, home to Barnet which by the sounds of it, if we play then like we did today we should see another 3 points!!

I lost my coverage after 60 minutes and gave up, however on what i saw delighted with that, it would appear the team have gone there and given a fantastic acount of them selves, well done all COYY

Ha ha - were were definately not unlucky. Good defensive dipslay but they have hit the bar,missed good chances amid some good last ditch defending.
We offered nothing going forwrad in the second half. Luck had nothing to do with it.

I might have guessed it would turn out this way. I came to the game not expecting anything, and just to enjoy the day out. As it is we came away with nothing, because we absolutely gifted the game to the blades with two ridiculous individual errors. At the very very least we deserved a replay. The tactics were spot on, the effort the players put in was phenomenal but it was for no reward.
After the awkward tribute arrangements for Gary Speed (the stadium kept falling silent or applauding, you never really knew what to do) we were out of the traps very well. All the players seemed up for it, passing and moving superbly. Within minutes we were leading. A free kick was awarded on the halfway line, which was pumped forward into the box. The ball landed perfectly at Rene's feet, his first touch to control spun the ball away from his feet perfectly, and he was able to drill a low shot inside Simonsens near post. 1-0!
As I said at half time, the rest of the half followed a distinct pattern. When we had the ball, the passing and movement was incredibly, absolutely played them off the park but in truth didn't create many openings. For the other 60% of the time when then blades had the ball, we were equally amazing. Harrying, pressing and nipping away at them. All Sheffield could do was play 5, 10 yard passes to each other, going absolutely nowhere. At no point in open play did we even look like being carved open. Robbo and Ellis were dominating Evans and Cresswell, whilst Morris, Mansell and Eunan were working well in midfield to smother any threat at the source.
Sheffield generated a few chances, but all from set pieces. From a right wing free kick, Collins headed wide from within the 6yard box when he should have done better. And Evans had two free kicks both superbly saved by Bobby, and despite mild panic from the corners that followed we covered the threat off.
In fact, we should have been 2 up at half time. On a beauty of a through ball, Rene danced past the keeper, but his touch took him too wide. He steadied himself, looked up and rolled it on a plate for Stevens, who it looked like didn't get enough on it and the blades were able to block.
So at half time, it's all good. second half the blades start with a bit more impetous, and come close to equalising. One of their players on the left side lines up a shot from fully 25yards, it swerves a bit and Bobby is able to parry at full stretch. On the rebound, another blade smashes in a volley which is kept out by the angle of post and bar, with possibly further assistance from Bobby.
So with that danger averted, we go back to the same pattern as the first half. Plenty of tippy-tappy, going nowhere blades possession interspersed with cutting TUFC attacks with pace and precision that ultimately don't result in a chance.
It was pretty clear that, with under 25 mins to go Sheffield United had run out of ideas. As you will witness from Lowton's aimless cross into the box from the right back slot. Unfortunately, Ellis takes a wild swipe at it. His flailing shin brushes the ball, enough to deflect it off it's previous course and in at the far post. Disaster, absolutely no threat and we've conceded a goal. 1-1.
It gets worse - I'm still texting my mate the score when I hear the crowd volume increase. Surely not, we'd just kicked off? I look up to see Evans running at out back-peddling defence, and fire a low shot under Bobby down low to keepers left. 2-1 and I've got no idea how that happened.
We brought on Taiwo to spice up the action, but before he has a chance to make an impact we shoot ourselves in the foot again. Oastler takes a throw back to Bobby quickly (he would have been better waiting and throwing upfield). Bobby, in his usual haste to start an attack, goes to smash it first time. He meant to smash it, but only succeeded in scuffing it 8yards to Evans. Who rolls it in the bottom corner. 3-1.
We huff and puff from then, and force a few corners and free kicks. The home fans finally start singing "Speedo" songs, strangely absent when they were losing. In the last minute of stoppage time, a well worked move releases Danny on the left of the box, and he finished well down to the keepers near post. 3-2, but the final whistle goes before we have a chance to do anything.
So, we were looking impressive, comfortable and the game plan was working a treat. Then we went and blew it ourselves. So frustrating. We made Sheffield united - with their smattering of ex premiership and championship regulars look distinctly average. We should be proud of how we played, yet equally disappointed how we cheaply gave the game away.
Some ratings:
Olejnik - 7 - was on for MOTM for 4 top saves, then blew it
Oastler - 7.5 - superb, did all that could be asked
Robbo - 8.5 - strong, powerful and did a great job
Ellis - 7 - would have been at least equal to Robbo, but for that horrible air kick
Nico - 8 - see Oastler, only with some awesome crossfield passes thrown in
Manse - 8.5 - some quality last-ditch blocking, tackling and general midfield enforcement
Morris - 7.5 - much improved, actually didn't miss Lathrope and added some height as well
O'Kane - 7 - thought he was a little low-key, never lit the game up like we know he can, but may have been down to our attacking limitations
Stevens - 8.5 - some great attacking runs first half, and quality defensive work too.
Bodin - 6.5 - fairly anonymous first half, never really got a chance to attack second
Howe - 8 - one of those days where things stuck and worked put for Rene. Good target man performance
Atieno - 7 - looked more lively and threatening than of late

again Yawn . You just cannot give any credit what so ever. A couple of mistakes, yes it happens. By the way where have you been when we have been winning games ? Enough said......
