Another View of Our Fans

Post by Southampton Gull »

This email came through today and gives a slightly different perspective on our fanbase.

Hi,

I have just registered on your forum in order to say thanks for your support regarding the Gary Speed tribute on Saturday. Your fans, every one of them, should be very proud not only of the support on saturday, but the players and most of all your staff for showing courtesy and respect throughout.

I hope that we can go someway to repaying the favour by giving you something to cheer when we play Exeter on the last game of the season... just for you guys anyway!

Again, thanks for contributing in a good way to make an emotional day just that bit special. Football fans are the same throughout and can always be relied upon to pull together in a tragedy (i.e. Bradford fire, Hillsborough etc) and support each other.

All the best for the rest of the season (and beyond), and please be very proud of the fans who endured a long coach jounrey - they were and are a credit.

Regards

Tom
Dave

This is great, and very heartwarming; reminds us that offensive behaviour comes from a very small minority of football fans (even if a few of them purport to support the Gulls).

A tribute to our very well mannered and fair supporters. There's still room for improvement, especially amongst our younger/immature fans.

Well done indeed to our fans but nothing we don't already know. We all know how good we are when we go away generaly and it gives me a warm feeling to no that when we have been there, The opposition remembers us with fondness.
As for the few mindless minority, Education is generaly the way but with the way society is going I suspect it will be an uphill losing battle..
Oh I suppose we have to take heart from the small improvements. Aleast Matt has a less brash car even if he still has the Orange laces

And don't forget that long sleeved orange garment worn under his short sleeved TUFC shirt. ;-)

Thats a nice message Dave. I would have expected nothing less, with regards to the Gary Speed tribute, from our fans. Each and everyone was a credit to TUFC and themselves. Well done to all for showing the respect that the occasion warranted.
