Talking to my freind who works with Buckle at Rovers, who was with the coaching team at Torquay also i have picked up a few things.
From what i can understand, Buckle doesnt regret leaving us as for him it was the right chance to move on. He does think he could have taken us up one more step if he stayed but he left so it doesnt matter.
Does he regret going to Rovers, again i would say no. What manager doesnt want to go somewhere where he can have more resorces (eg money, better players ect) Its not going perfectly so far but its bound it pick up.
I just feel a manager should be given a chance to do what he wants for a few seasons. You cant expect someone to hit the ground running straight off, like any manager they need time to build there squad. Thats where football has lost its ways if SAF took over Man Utd today and had the start he had all them years ago he would have been gone already. Yes i know he almost got sacked, but if it was in todays game he would have got sacked.
Need to look at Wenger at Arsenal, SAF at United, Big Sam at Bolton and Alan Curb at Charlton. They all had time to build what they wanted and they all did really well.
Back on Topic, if Buckle finished the season anywhere other than relegated then he should stay. I got no doubts they will be at least mid table but that wont be good enough for the fans. Just like our season, take mid table and the Manager knows what he has to do to improve. Remove the players not good enough and add players where they are weaker. You dont just think Southend, Cheltenham and Burton has just got amazing over night, they all have had time to build a squad good enough to play there football and do well.
I do hope for Rovers sake the board give Buckle the time as we all know he can do well. We had many bad runs before christmas every season and we never finished badly. Buckle has left now and Lings the manager and im slowly losing this hate towards him. At the end of the day its thanks to Buckle were even in League 2. Of course i want to finish above them in the league and beat them to rub it in. Rovers need some stability as you cant keep sacking manager every 6 months, you just wont ever get anywhere.

Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

There is no requirement for you to post on, or even read, threads which don't appeal to you. Should we run all potential new threads past you before publication to ensure they meet your critreia and are of interest to you, or are you concerned with the other 1179 registered members and many, many times that number of visitors?Sexy_Gulls wrote:Seriously this is getting obsessive now. Except I wasn't saying 'This thread is stupid, please delete it." I was merely commenting that IMHO fans of Torquay United should move on from Paul Buckle as I feel its beginning to become an obsession that reflects poorly on us fans. I will join in the friendly abuse towards Buckle when Rovers come to town, and I recieved a sharp shock when I turned the telly on Sunday forgetting Totton V BR was televised but I personally don't feel the need to follow his every move.ferrarilover wrote: There is no requirement for you to post on, or even read, threads which don't appeal to you. Oh and "if you don't like the discussion then don't contribute' is a rubbish way of responding to a different point of view.

Fans of Torquay SHOULD move on from PB i agree but then so should the Bristol Rovers fans move on from obsessing with our site by feeling compelled to respond and defend anything we say ON OUR OWN SITE BY THE WAY about their club! Although fans of all clubs are welcome, if i post a mickey taking thread about Rovers i meant it for other TUFC fans to respond NOT for gasheads to come on and slag me off for being obsessed about their fortunes! So you see its just the nature of fans and it can be annoying but sometimes can be funny.

I'm all for taking the Mickey out of everyone and everything, and I welcome anyone, including Gasheads, who wants to take the Mickey, providing they don't target me....

Oh yeah definitely. The 2-1 win at The Mem will take a lot of beating as my highlight of the season.

I never suggested you said this thread was stupid and should be deleted. Your post was of a nature which suggested that you had no interest in PB, therefore none of us should start or participate in threads regarding him.
If you don't like it, don't post is not an argument, it's advice for life.
For me, no, we shouldn't move on and forget Bucks, I think the OP is an excellent question and certainly one to which I'd like to take the mind of other members, if that's ok with you?

An old lady walked past Buckle earlier today struggling with heavy shopping bags. He asked her if she could manage.
She said "Yes, but you got us into this mess, you can sort it out yourself".
