Here's a quick poser, reading the last part if this article begs the question?

Who was the last Torquay player to have a testimonial? Like SDY Yellow says, loyalty is not big in football like it used to be and Mansell has to be commended for his attitude towards this club, he is truly a legend.

Wrong thread. :red: ;-) See Popside : Football Trivia. ;-)

Good question though. I'll have a guess : Kevin Hill ?

Just the thought of Hargreaves makes me go firm. :)

Like i said in another thread. These two players and Lee in particular have renewed our faith in loyalty from Players in the moras of greed from those higher up. Coupled with huge amounts of wisdom in two guys who are reletivly young. Well compared to me and Trojan and another sozzled ole git in Southampton.
I would love to see Lee break Kevins record and will love it to bits to help him in his testimonial year.
Nico too. We love yer man. Although I am not sure I would want either of your babies. I'm not that way. dear.
Long may your legs hold out. Long may your shots be on target and hot as hell for the oppo to try and hold. All credit to our very astutue manager for showing common sense and more than a bit of humility after the arrogance of the last 4 years it makes a refreshing change. and heres wishing you all success for a long long time in yellow.

They say times' a great healer, maybe one day I'll get over it :-| . But, hey, how about a Greavsie/Mansell management combo in the future, with Hilly as sponge man. And, after reading that article, Nico as a cleaner...

A one Mr T Thompson springs immediately to mind. Can't have thought he'd have had much to say about messrs Hargreaves and Wroe though, although he must have been gutted whne the latter got the captain's armband ahead of him.

I think there was ample justification to include NW towards the end of his time with us. I remember many lacklustre performances from him and I could never understand why NW was made captain over Manse.

Agreed on the captaincy point and certainly Wroe tailed off a bit in that final season. I actually think the pressure of being captain at 23(?) was what contributed to that. Well done, Buckle.

I have commented on Mansell lacking a bit of quality in midfield in the past. Never any need to doubt his commitment to the cause. I need to say based on this season's performance, a proper centre-mid. Keeping it going!
