You're spot on there mate, still good news about Buckle though eh? HAA
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.
The answer to Mid Devon's earlier question is the Peel Park Hotel which neighboured the old ground. Aptly named of course to those who remember the earlier incarnation of Stanley. The old ground is only a just a step or two across the pub car park from the pub's front door. Apart from the pitch, the old ground was demolished leaving today only the brick built changing rooms "erected by supporters subscription 1932" if I recall correctly. Ghosts of terraces can still be seen in places and the pitch is still used for local games.
The pub's splendid pie and peas (served, of course, in a bowl with a spoon) alone make this away trip worthwhile. Indeed, it is generally the highlight of the day. But perhaps maybe this Saturday we will finally get some points there? Not before time...

Says it all about Accrington really when the 'highlight' of the day is a bowl of pie and peas served with a spoon. Cheamgull, you may have actually deterred me from going on saturday as the weather is looking grim, i need the cash for xmas and i just can't face driving up there again. I was gonna go but unless i have a change of heart then i don't think i'll be there. I usually support the Gulls regardless but Accrington is so desperately grim that i don't think i can do it. The thing about Accy is that its not just one thing thats depressing - its absolutely everything. The place itself, the ground, the weather, the crowd, the programme, the facilities. I can't do it again.

At the end of the day (footballing Cliché i know) i want us to get a result more than anyone but to be part of a small following and having the chance to just maybe see us win at one of the worst grounds in the country is appealing enough for me to brave that away end .. i always say the same as most of you "never again" but i find myself with that desire once again to get on that train and support the boys!! because if we don't want to go, do you really think they do? hope to see some of you there for a chin wag and hot pie ![Glasses :)](./images/smilies/glasses.gif)
