I really don't understand some people's attitudes. What's the problem? As I explained in my earlier post, if it's Argyle v Torquay, I'm with the Gulls all the way, and enjoy the banter with my Plymouth friends. Same v Exeter City. But if it's Argyle or the Grecians playing an up-country team, then I support the Devon clubs. I want the Devonshire clubs to do well, because what benefits Devon ultimately benefits Torquay. Same if it's an English/Scottish/Welsh/Irish club playing a foreign team, then I support our country's side. And sometimes I'm completely neutral, whilst still enjoying the game. We are football supporters, not tribal warriors. Hate has no place in football, nor in any civilised person's heart.
Glad to see you don't hate us :~D

There is a thread on Pasoti where a Tqy fan is saying 'like most Torquay fans I have a soft spot for Argyle.'
Pardon me. I hate Plymouth. In fact I would say it is a very small minority of Tqy fans who have a soft spot for Plymouth. Maybe less.
On Exeweb there are Tqy fans playing the sycophantic shoe-shiner to Plymouth fans...I just do not get it.
I have always disliked Exeter but there is something even more odious about Plymouth and there fans. I am enjoying there struggles and not amongst what seem to be a section of Tqy fans who want to see Plymouth do well.
Now then my malingering hector, why didn't you give it large to the mass of Argyle fans congregated in the Union Inn ?
This TUFC and Argyle supporter is proud of his Ellacombe and Westcountry roots. Outpouring your hatred of rival Devon teams on a faceless forum is one thing, saying it direct in the face of a fan who will not let you slip away into the night without measured response is another matter.
Tone the hatred down before it gets you into bother.

I travelled to our recent derby with a fellow Torquay fan and an Argyle fan, and enjoyed a couple of pints in The Union both before and after the game. I must say that all of the Argyle fans I came across that day were a credit to their club, and I thoroughly enjoyed the chat both pre- and post-match. It's a pity landlord Jeff wan't in a better mood after his Bristol Rovers had crashed 2-0 at home to Barnet! I have my ticket for Home Park on 2 January 2012 - in the Lyndhurst Stand. I'm attending with Argyle supporters so why not? I don't suppose they'd be welcomed in the Away End!!Trojan 67 wrote:

It's weird. Being born in Plymouth, knowing Argyle fans, when I was younger I'd go and see them (remember a couple of games that stick in the mind, they played Swindon when they were at the top of L1, remember Micky Evans scoring a controversial indirect freekick - also remember police stopping the 1500/2000 Swindon fans leaving until after the game to stop any fights. Another I remember is them hammering Watford (I think) 3-0 in the Championship. Decent game.)
Another reason why lots of our fans don't really mind Argyle is because on the pitch they've been like a big brother - how many players have we taken from them to aid our own success? In the 03/04 promotion year, we had plenty. We've always done well off of Argyle. Also, the fact that they have always been two leagues above us, until the last year, I've always wanted them to do well. If they'd got to the Premiership it would have been fantastic for the region, and we'd have benefitted even more, through players, loanees etc.
I've never really had a problem with Argyle, possibly because until this season I'd never seen a competitive game between the sides. I must say, in the build up to the game at Plainmoor a few weeks back, I was buzzing, really excited. More excited than I'd ever been when we played against Exeter. It's a totally different prospect, Exeter always felt like a little local derby, whereas the Plymouth one seemed the big one, the real deal. I really cannot wait for 2nd January now! It feels much bigger than the games I've seen against City, even when we had them in the playoffs!

I don't hate PA as such as other posters have said its too strong a word BUT having the "Green Army" crap rammed down our throats whenever they win a game...thankfully rare at the moment. Hearing that clown on Radio Devon Gordon Sparkes shouting into the microphone (he's certifiable). Having Natalie Cornah drooling at the mention of their name on spotlight and the over the top and at this particular time unjustified coverage in the Western Morning News and Sunday Independent (!) its enough to make anybody really dislike them !!
Another reason for my "dislike" of them is the delusional supporters they have. An acquaintance of mine in Kingsteignton still thinks that they will finish at least half way up the league. Laughs off the debt problems that they have and the problems that they have caused and says that he is "going down to Argyle " on the 2nd Jan. Now then where is "Argyle" I thought it was somewhere in Scotland if so he has got his map upside down ! League Two is a stroll in the park according to my green "friend" !
They are so far up their rear ends and they still attempt to deride us but we can certainly be proud of our club as we pay our way and are fully realistic in our ambitions. In a few years time and they manage to get their act together they will almost certainly go back up the league as they do have more potential and a greater fan base than us, but will they ever gain any humility after experiencing this and maybe just give a thought for how their "little" neighbours run their club ? I somehow doubt it. So many of them are just so condescending towards us. "We don't mind little Torquay its Exeter we hate." AAAGGHHH
I so much want them to have a few years in the conference. It would make me so happy to look down on them for a while and see them suffer. Schadenfreude a perfect word for this situation !!
