Ridsdale sacks Phil Brown
New Preston North End chairman Peter Ridsdale has sacked manager Phil Brown, who had been in charge of the team for eleven months. For Ridsdale, an even quicker sacking than his dismissal of Peter Reid at Argyle (I'm assuming they really were dismissals rather than 'mutual agreements'). A new broom sweeping clean, and maybe there were good reasons, but it's not always a wise course of action!

At the end of the day if you are a manager and Ridsdale comes in and takes over your club you know you're gonna get the sack. Secondly, Brown has had 11 months as Preston boss and he is taking them nowhere. Yes he may have had limited financial constraints and players leave but why should they be below a team like Stevenage? Not often i agree with Ridsdale but as he says, its a results business and Brown has not been getting them.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Agreed. Ridsdale has had his critics and doubters, but I think he got it right at Argyle, and Brown was not getting anywhere at Preston, as you say. Perhaps Ridsdale will always be something of a controversial figure, but he impresses me more than many club chairmen I can think of over the years.

A controversial figure? Not half! I'd be terrified if he came anywhere near Plainmoor. The guy is a curse, his record speaks for itself. Just ask Leeds and Cardiff fans.
