Chris Hargreaves would be a popular appointment due to his Torquay connections...
Maybe one day, Carayol will find London...

Has anyone applied for the job? =D

I DID! But they said I was too ambitious and they said, "We've just got rid of one ambitious tw#t we don't need to appoint another one!" I just don't understand, I even said I could lead Rovers to the Premier League (ok it might be the Blue Square Premier League but I wouldn't fall out with my players!!)

I would be surprised if Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho or Kenny Dalglish turned down the chance to manage this massive club with its huge new stadium (only a drawing at present, but sure to be built, eventually, probably).

I still haven't been able to kick the habit of coming on here to get your views on the latest goings on at the circus that is Bristol Rovers FC.

Johnson would be a very risky appointment and although there's a surprising amount of support for him I don't think he'd ever win over some fans. I also have reservations after his recent record with Northampton. I hope we don't go for him.

The other candidates include Sean O'Driscoll (8/11 on last time I looked) and surprising Dowie (2/1). 95% want O'Driscoll but he's out of our league so really can't see that happening.

Then there's Dowie, virtually no support for him so no doubt we'll go and appoint him.

Oh and for anyone looking for a cheeky bet Ling is at 33's lol.

Could you afford to pay off Buckle and pay us the £250k for Ling though? :)

After paying 75k for Buckle, plus his 150k reported salary. 35k for Zebs. 20k for Carayol. Paying off managers/coaches Lawrence, Trollope, Patterson, Penney, Foyle & Buckle in the past few seasons. Aswell as players Coles & Campbell I'd say no

P.S. I'm sure there are some other people I've missed off that list.

The next manager will be competent, and will take Bristol Rovers into the top half.

I.M.O. there is little point in worrying about your new manager as he will have been lined up weeks ago, just like your board lined up Buckle weeks before the end of last season. Sean North has more than likely been installed as a temp.manager just to provide a "smoke screen" & help the new bloke/girl find his/her feet. :~D

In any case I don't think you will have a problem staying up, not with players like Zeb, Stanley & Poke available, & as you know Muzzie is a match winner on his day.I don't know too much about the rest but have read that there are other very good players in the squad.

Barnet are a good side & gave us a very good game (they lost 1-0 ) at Plainmoor, I also think that The cobblers will be safe together with D & R, & Hereford. A.F.C. Wimbledow lost 4-0 here & were terrible, do they have enough dosh to buy safety? Plymouth will almost certainly go down as the hotels bloke that saved them does not appear to have further funds to spend on players, they are certainly the worst team we have played so far, & were very lucky to beat Rovers & get a point from Aldershot I believe.
So don't worry it's Argyle & A.F.C. W. for the drop. :scarf:

I can't help but think that whoever they get in will be on a hiding to nothing. Reading their forums, they have some of the most fickle fans I've ever seen. It's been a good laugh at Buckle's expense, but I can't help but feel Rovers are a basket case at the moment.

Johnson has just achieved feck all at AC Northampton and over the same period they need a huge upturn in fortunes to stay in this league. Johnson took quite a while to turn things around at the other Brizzle club and they think they'll give him the same amount of time with relegation looming? Recent history suggest not!

It's certainly going to be an interesting second half of the season for them....
Mmmmmm, beeeeeeeer.

Quite honestly think you'd be better off keeping Shaun North in charge until at least the end of the season. Always seemed a good bloke and think he'd do well.

To be honest, now Buckle has gone I'd be more than happy to see Rovers push up the table, as long as we beat them! Their fans that have come on here seem genuine and I hope the ex Gulls in their squad do well!

Shaun North is a very capable manager. His track record includes manager of Torquay United Reserves who won the West Section of the Tote Sport . Com League last season by a country mile.
