Rovers fans aspirations

Post by Glostergull »

I know we have all had a laugh at the Gas up the road and I do wish them all the best with Mr Magoo or whatever his name is. But I did have to laugh at a post on their forum which shows how far their ambitions have grown. and I quote!

I'd have settled for Mickey Mouse if he gets us out of the mess were in. Having said that can I extend a warm welcome to Mark as it does show some ambition by the board to take the club forward to where we belong......at least two divisions higher. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

I thought they had just sacked Mickey mouse. Show how wrong you can be lol

And whiles't we are on the topic. I see brucie has been teaching them how to get behind the team. Right behind. In fact outside the stadium I reckon. and again I quote. So Who Will Be Be Caretaker Manager In April This Time #1 JOEYB67

Bad appointment in my view and will need to have an immediate impact or we will be looking for another manager in 3months

Hope he proves me wrong and he will have my full support.

Hmm. You can understand why Paul Buckle said they should lower their expectations. It puzzles me why they should think of themselves as one of the bigger clubs in the division. I'd hate to tar them all with the same brush, but they do come across as rather arrogant, impatient and fickle. Three months seems to be about the limit. If Mr Magoo hasn't worked a miracle by then, that'll be the end of him..

I've watched Rovers for about 40 years, and I while I wouldn't say we 'belong' two divisions higher, it is certainly a realistic target, and we have been there for i would think 9 of the seasons I've watched them.
Anyway, now we are all friends again, we can all have a big love in in March and a bit of a sing song (8) (8) (8) If you really **** hate him etc etc (8) (8) (8)

It;s nice to see we're all friends again and some of you have a really good sense of humour. I sincerely hope the fans have something to sing about again one day and the old atmosphere comes back. Not since the days of Olly has there been a decent atmosphere at the Mem. The Gas end ( I still think of the old Tote end) when in full cry would make your hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. witness the area final JPT final agains't that lot in red a few years ago with 12,000 singing as if lives depended on it.
If your ever in the Yate area feel free to pop into the model shop and say hello and we can reminisce.

Talking of humour gasrex. What on earth is the thread on your forum about. "What did you eat for dinner tonight".!
Some really odd replies and comments but in the Rovers talk section whch should be about team and club affairs. I can't even begin to imagine how that would be received on "all things Plainmoor" May be it goes with that humour I mentioned in my earlier post. oh and say hello to Horse for me. apparently we share something in common. He is a horse and I am now called GG. (sorry my humour is apparently too intelligent for some on here lol)
