thats bs. The guy had no chance. I am sure Buckle's cv is already with the board. Who the hell would that job? Should be a joint job for terry, Lampard and Cole as they seam think they can do a better job. No one will succeed there until the said three have gone.

Chelsea have gone through more managers than Man U have won trophies.
It's stability that they need, not a constant merry go round of managers.

He was on a hiding to nothing but that said, he was afforded a gilt edged opportunity and ballsed it up big style so there is nobody to blame but himself. I have no sympathy as, although i don't know him, he comes across as arrogant, ignorant, vein, petulant, and a bit simple. And i'm sick of him saying errrrrrrrrrrrr, stroking his beard like Vic & Bob, crouching and posing on the touchline dressed in some feminine overcoat like some model from Freemans, using 'big' words so the rest of us will think he's intelligent NOTE: You're a football manager, you don't need to be mate! AND i won't miss his camp pirouehetting like a footballing ballet dancer. In short , piss off AVB
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

I nearly always agree that managers should be given more time and you can often see a manager is disappointed but still hungry to win when he's sacked. I don't know if anyone saw his post-match interview yesterday but the guy looked totally bereft of ideas, hunger and fight. It was definitely time to go.
Luke.

Chelsea will continue to struggle for as long as they expect instant success again. Villas-Boas was brought in with this idea of replacing some of the aging players, bringing in younger guys - that '3 year plan'. The fact he's been sacked after 9 months is laughable. It's obvious to all and sundry that until the culture of the player being bigger than the manager is changed they'll win nothing. Chelsea have some very good players but they also have players who's time has passed; Lampard, Terry, Essien, maybe Drogba. They let Alex go - a very good centre-half - and have Luiz playing there, who is great if you're prepared to overlook the fact that he's not very good at defending. Cahill will turn out ok, Cole has a good couple of years in him yet. Mata is great, Sturridge could be great, and somebody needs to go to Madame Tussauds to see if that's where the real Fernando Torres is hiding because this one looks like the dummy.

Roman keeps making poor choices. Here's two for example, Schevchenko and Torres. 80-90 million for about 30 goals between them.

I don't think either of those players instantly became crap players - it's just what happens when the owner gets it into his head to buy somebody who doesn't really fit into the manager's style of play.usagullmichigan wrote:Roman keeps making poor choices. I'm still pretty sure Torres will have at least one good season at Chelsea. He does seem to get a lot of bad luck at times; overhead kicks hitting the bar, that sort of thing. Although admittedly has done some crap things too

Personally I'm gutted that he's gone. Granted, if I was a Chelsea fan with a short-minded view then he's failing. But as someone who supports football on the whole, it's a bad decision. They've just dispensed with the services of perhaps the best young manager in the current game. After paying £13m to get him to the club, it seems farcical to get rid so soon. No manager whos right in the head will take that position now - all you have to do is look at the list of managers in the past and see how they've all failed.
Abramovich is desperate for Champions League success, but it takes time and work to build a team capable of doing so, especially with Barca as they are right now. His short-sighted view is therefore hindering the club in the long term. No manager since Jose Mourinho has had the time to build their own squad. Since Mourinho moved on, there has always been a spine of a team there, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Drogba, all of whom are good, but past it. Villas-Boas tried freezing them out gently, but they didn't like it so kicked a fuss. Chelseas fans seemed to side with those players, which didn't help AVB one bit. He didn't have the respect of those players as he was practically the same age. That's the clubs failing. There living in the past, afraid to allow these players move on. As USA says above, until those players are rid of the club they'll continue to slide.
If Villas-Boas had been given 3/4 years to build his team with his players the way he wanted them to play, I wouldn't be surprised to see them be a big force in Europe once again. He can't have turned into a bad manager after 9 months - you must have some ability to win a treble, including a major European trophy, in your first season as a manager. I fully expect AVB to get another job abroad, succeed and return to England in the near future.
Good luck to the man.

I think Mourinho has been installed as the bookies favourite to return. Does anyone seriousy think this could happen?

Phew that was close. I just heard a rumour that Gilbert the Gull was about to be poached by Cheslea with Lampard. Terry.Cole and Drogba offered in part exchange.
They can have Gilbert He's def worth it but the other 4 in PX. No thanks.
We got enough on the executive naughty step throwing their handbags without that 4 making fools of themselves as they flop at Fortress Plainmoor. I could see them being substituted in the first half of their debuts.
Besides. Even Trojan is worth more than that lot put together.
