Favourite teams

Post by AustrianAndyGull »

Just a bit of fun but thought i'd ask who you lot out there would pick as your 'favourite' teams in each division, Prem, Champ, L1, L2 - got to be us obviously!, BSP, Scottish, World. You can give reasons i you wish or you can just tell me to do one as you aren't gonna waste your time replying to such a pointless thread. That's fine. I'm going to kick it off though and hope others may do the same as i am genuinely interested. Thanks all.

PREM: Norwich City ( love Norfolk and loved them in the 90's with Goss, Sutton, Townsend etc. Loved their football)

CHAMP: Nottingham Forest ( loved their football in the 90's also and like their club crest)

L1: Sheffield Wednesday ( used to go and watch them in the 90's and a family history of support )

L2: Torquay United :scarf:

BSP: York City ( have watched them for a number of years and still go now - go to York regularly and have done since i was a kid due to living only 20 minutes away.)

SCOTTISH: Ross County ( visited whilst on holiday once and loved it all - got some shorts too! )

WORLD : Red Bull Salzburg AUSTRIA
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Burnley (best mate supports them)
Rochdale (after 30 years in L2 I hope they stay up)
Torquay
Aberdeen (local team now)
Slovan Bratislava

We did have the world famous Wunderteam but now we are the Blunderteam.

We're so bad that we even struggled to qualify for EURO 2008 and we were the joint hosts!

No rant i'm afraid Steve because you are correct that Austrians know nothing about football. :'(

Same here :) ^^^^

Premier League - Newcastle United .. Howay The Lads .. loved them since the days of Asprilla and Phillipe Albert! (that goal V Scumchester)

Championship - Leeds United (for obvious reasons) .. soft spot for Southampton after visiting St Mary's a few times last season!

League One - Huddersfield Town .. used to watch them at the Galpharm as young teenager when i couldn't get to Torquay games.

League Two - Torquay United :) My one true love! Women have come and gone, so have friends and family and my livers probably gonna pack in soon but no matter what i'll follow this team till the day i die, through thick and thin! .. Macclesfield Town, Used to watch Macc at Moss Rose every other weekend in 05/06. Even went to their famous FA.Cup 3rd round tie at Chelsea where they even equalised for all of 30 seconds before Chelsea restored the lead straight from kick off. Was an awesome feeling for all of us when John Murphy equalised and i'll never forget it. Macc will always have my support :)

Blue Square Premier - Southport .. due to 2 great seasons on Football manager 2009

Scottish Premier League - Inverness Caledonian Thistle .. always remember when they beat Celtic years a go in the cup and they brought out that song "Super calla go ballistic, Celtic are atrocious"

Obviously Torquay but soft spots for Cardiff (used to live there, really wanted them to be the first Welsh team in the Prem as I've also got a lot of Welsh ancestry) and Carlisle (years of being dragged to mostly away games against South West clubs as my Dad's an exile).

Used to be a Man Utd fan in my (much) younger years, before I realised lower league football was more interesting. So I still want them to win the Prem every year. Swansea are good to watch too. I'd like to see Southampton go up this year as well, they play some good football.

Further afield, I've always had soft spots for Barca, AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, Hearts and possibly one or two I forget, after either good experiences at games or foreign holidays where cheap merchandise is freely available... and in the case of Hearts, I really have no idea.
