Stoke the visitors for opening of Bristows Bench?

A possibility, according to the Herald. Would be nice to see a full-strength Premiership side for a change, rather than their youth.

Stoke - oh the glamour!

I would have preferred Newcastle or Norwich but i't's a big draw non the less and will help us with some extra cash.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Thinking more on this, Newcastle would be amazing. The Toon Army would follow their club to the ends of the earth and a 'prestige' friendly in summertime down by the riviera would see the Babbacombe End packed to the rafters with a sea of black and white. This would mean a massive revenue boost for the club as well as a very interesting encounter to look forward to. Stoke wouldn't even bring that many anyway and are quite a 'boring' proposition. I know beggars can't be choosers and we've probably been turned down by lots of other clubs but STOKE? Come on!

I'd rather have Stoke than Chelsea under 12s, or Walsall or someone. We never have Premiership teams down here, the only ones I remember are Fulham & I think Blackburn several years ago.

We had Portsmouth in 04, I think.

Ah that was it, Pompey instead of Blackburn.

Still, it's good to test ourselves against such opposition, and even though Stoke probably are the most boring Prem side, it is still a top side, and one who made the last 32 in one of Europes top competitions this season.

Will be quite an interesting game, one of the most resiliant sides in the Prem vs one of the most resiliant sides in League 2. We could have a decent chance of sneaking a win.

Surely they'll just do as all the Prem teams have done to us (understandably) and send their U12 reserve side?

I'm sure they usually throw in a few big name players, they just tend to book in loads of friendlies and mix them up. I think you'll see at least 5 decent players in the squad.
