Plymouth lot on their forum after that game reckoned it added to the decent noise coming from the away end. I'd rather that than have no noise at all, or would you rather Plainmoor be a library?
Overreaction in my opinion if you're going to boycott the game because some bloke's coming with a bell - just move away from him if you don't like it, simple.
what are you talking about "Rather have that than no noise at all" Are you suggesting that, without the bell, Plainmoor is a library? Bartlett turns up for 5/6 games a season. Has Plainmoor been a library for the other 16/17 games? I dont think so. Overreaction! The last time that I had the misfourtune to be almost beside Bartlett, when he had the bell,(I stand where I always stand as is my right as a paying customer/season ticket holder and every away match attendee) Bartlett turns out of the pub 5 mins before ko and comes and stands 10 feet away from me (As is his right) starts waving the bell about and I end up with a ringing (No pun intended) in my right ear, that lasts for a couple of days!! The bell adds nothing to the atmosphere. it has zero beat or rhythm so does not encourage anyone to start chanting/singing (Unlike Paul's brilliant drum beat) It's just an "instrument" that makes a bloody annoying racket and spoils the enjoyment of MOST people who have the misfourtune to want to cheer on their team within the vicinity of the equally annoying John Bartlett. simple..

JB rarely misses a Saturday home game, but often misses an evening midweek game. Rather than turns up for 5/6 games a season, it's more like he misses 5/6 games a season.

At least he doesn't bring his bell anymore. :(

oops, I mean :)

Suprised at the club for this if it's true.
Dave, 5/6 years ago it did end in fisticuffs. The said Mr Bartlett, having had one or ten too many sherberts, slapping the person that I was with, at the game, in the face with an open palm. My companion did not retaliate. This all started, over the bell, and ended with Mr Bartlett being spoken to, by the police. A sorry episode and one which I really wish had never occurred.

John Bartlett.....Legend!. I have many memories of him as kid in the 1980's. Old school yes but a has been a great supporter of the gulls. People used to laugh at Bartlett's comments and was quite well liked. I can remember one game he was banned from the popside and we sat next to us in the grandstand he was very nice to me and my brother. Torquay was drawing with a few mins to go and he was running nearly the length of the stand (which was nearly empty) flipping all the seats up and the slamming them down as we all stamped our feet.

John Bartlett....Torquay's Alf Garnett

That unfortunate lady was Diamondgirl and it didn't end in violence because, and I'm really not joking, if I hit him once, I won't stop until I've caved in his skull.

As for the prat further up who suggests that I should move from the place I have stood at every single home game for 8 years just because some arsehole with a bell wants to make a racket, you represent everything that is wrong with the world in 2012.

Spoken with the club and the bell will NOT be allowed into the ground. Adds nothing, detracts everything, dangerous, pointless, needless, correct decision has been made.

As for you Dave, you are a silly sausage.
