Crawley have announced Steve Coppell as their new Director of Football. i am amazed someone like Coppell with his integrity and standing in the game would associate himself with that hideous outfit.

We are desperate for one of these two teams to drop points, and in fact we'll all become Steve Evans fans when Rotherham go to Shrewsbury! lol

Can't honestly see either team dropping many points, this was my concern once we got to the last 5, our run in is 100 times harder than either of theirs.

There is no way that Crawley have arranged this in considerably less than 24 hours. Not a chance in hell. This means they have been speaking to Coppell for at least 10 days (I imagine).

Agree with GITP, the timing does come across as Evans departing a sinking ship. Or was he pushed? Have the FA cited Evans as the cause of the brawl and decided that enough is enough, either Evans goes, or it's a 5 point deduction? Is it a case of jump before he was pushed? Did he agree to go to Rotherham a week ago upon hearing that Coppell had been approached? Whatever the truth is, one thing is almost certain: we will never know the whole truth, not from the horse's (arse) mouth. Give it time guys, we may be on for good news yet.

Matt.

Fines were obvious!

Suspensions could be the key unless anything else unfolds from now until the end of the season with Crawley.

Jeez I remember why I don't post on here often....

Who mentioned anything about retards?

......you could hardly call my post heavy handed either, unless you are of a particularly timid disposition.

I was suggesting it was "boloni" to suggest that Crawley were in some way "nailed on" to win most if not all of their remaining games as some had posted - when they're current form and results suggests otherwise, it just struck me as posting doom and gloom for no apparent reason.

Of course they could.......and if they do, they'll deserve autos (well as much as Creepy ever deserve anything).

The only facts I stated are in fact...facts - Shrewsbury, like us, have been on a solid run of form, Crawley in the 2nd half of the season haven't.

Of course, you're right - current form and recent results can count for little but as that is all anybody has to go on, they do mean something, especially when people are predicting in their opinion what might happen between now and the end of the season.......so far Tqy and Shrews have also handled the pressure of the crucial last 10/12 games of the season better than Crawley have.
....aka jmgull.

I'm convinced Crawley will drop points somewhere in their remaining games, and the third automatic promotion place will be between Torquay and Southend. Which makes Saturday's match a must win game for both sides. As big a game as a play-off final.

I'm with Jock the knife, why's it a dead set that Crawley will win 5 games in a row, which would actually be 8 in a row? If they'd been doing that all season, they'd be top!
Bottom line is not all Crawley, Shrewsbury, us and Southend will win all their games. There's nothing to think that Crawley will do it and we won't. They won at Barnet, luckily by all accounts. I think that might have been a bit about showing evans what he's missing on, and so i don't expect that fighting spirit to stay for the other games.

I really think we'll beat Southend on sat. They do have a great away record, but have you looked at our home and away record? They're pretty timilar, we don't rely on home turf or sneaky away wins, we compete in every match. I think it's a win on sat and against Crewe. and then who knows.

We're picturing worse case right now as we dropped points, but last week when all the others faultered we were flying. 4 more twists to come yet gullonians.

Remember Mark Sale? He was pants wasn't he.

There is no doubt that the last 4 games, 5 for shrewsbury and crawley, will be nail biting for all concerned.

I have looked at the record of our 4 remaining opponents over the last 6 games which read as follows. Crewe 14 points, Southend 9 points, Wimbledon 3 points Hereford 1 point.

I am therefore going for us to take 8 points from the last 12 on the basis of 2 home draws and 2 away wins giving us 87 points.

The Shrews have superb home record but may drop 2 points at home to either Rotherham or Dagenham. I am going for 10 points from the last 5 games giving them 88 points and second place.

Crawley is the big question mark due to the departure of Evans and the fact that they have to play Wimbledon at home (local derby) Northampton at home, fast improving team, Dagenham away much improved and Accrington away always a tough nut to crack. I think they will only draw against Northampton, Dagenham and Accrington giving them 9 points and a total of 85 finishing in 4th place.

I am always optomistic and I therefore think we are going to be promoted, I just hope there are no serious injuries to key players in the last 4 games.

Steve Coppell? Ask Bristol City fans about him.Prone to hasty decisions/emotionally unreliable.
Surprised he still has an appetite for the game,to be honest.

Just got a funny feeling that Rotherham will end Shrews unbeaten home record tomorrow. Evans in charge for the first time, players revved up for a big game. Could be tough for the Salopians tomorrow.
Strangely enough it was Pope Gregory the 9th inviting me for drinks aboard his steam yacht, the saucy sue currently wintering in montego bay with the England cricket team and the Balanese Goddess of plenty.

Basically, if you can't be bothered to read it, Accrington boss Paul Cook says he is going to be experimenting with his squad for the rest of the season. So smattering of reserve players getting spanked when they play our rivals - I hate Accrington and if they are going to throw in the towell and play a weakened side then it only builds up that hate.

Unless these players proving themselves prove to be amazing, in which case it'll be a masterstroke!
