Having watched the BBC sport video of our second disallowed goal at Oxford (the first does look just offside), where you can freeze frame when Rene squares the ball, what a shocking decision it was. Eunan is clearly not in front of the ball, which he has to be to be offside regardless of where Oxford players are. All the more shocking as the linesman must have been right in line, as Rene had two strikes there was loads of time, Eunan was virtually standing still and no runners had to be contended with and the linesman wouldn't have had to look ahead from ball at time it was passed to man miles ahead or across. 2-0 and demoralised Oxford would have been beaten as we'd probably have been more in control than in the first half before they ended up gettin their lucky corner goal, which also has a bit of backing into Bobby. So perhaps for our good fortune before like at Barnet, it's deserted us this time.
Anyway, although some might say we've been "lucky" to win games just because the other team might have had more than the ball, can anyone remember any really bad ref's decisions in our favour that gained us 2 points?
We weren't lucky this time.

This has already been covered in the matchday thread.
In my mind I still feel lucky that we got away with a point.

Morecambe away rings a bell, leading 2-1 and then we handle clearly in the box and nothing given! I guess they even up over the season, ^.^londongull63 wrote:Having watched the BBC sport video of our second disallowed goal at Oxford (the first does look just offside), where you can freeze frame when Rene squares the ball, what a shocking decision it was. Yeh lets move on. I think a point is fair enough bare in mind the number of chances they had in the 2nd half!
Decisons do more or less even themselves up, allways remember the 2009 season, drawing 1.1 at home to Northwhich and being awarded the softest penalty in the history of football in the 94th minute, giving us a 2.1 win.
Later on that season, saw the worst offside decision ever, when Benyon was not only being played on side in the first instance by a yard by one defender, he was being played onside in the second instance by 3 yards , by another defender, yet the goal was ruled out, we went on the draw that match 3.3 at home to FGR.
The Oxford match finished 2.2 nothing will chnage it.

"If you can keep your head while all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you" . . . .
The ten men at Oxford kept their heads against their eleven + three from the Football League's appointed officials and still ground out a result.
This is the difference between going up or missing out and conversely staying up or going down.

It was unlucky that Rene didn't just put the ball in the net once he was round the keeper. And it was equally unlucky that Eunan missed a sitter in the first half. Also very lucky that Oxford fluffed several chances to kill the game off in the last 10 minutes. Shall I talk about Tai's goal and the injured keeper/wind assist...
Very easy to blame the ref's performance but we shouldn't be relying on them. One of the reasons that big clubs seem to get the big decisions is that they create so many chances that when decisions don't go their way it doesn't matter. Poor teams get relegated on the back of a disallowed goal because that was their only chance.
